kiddhan625,

Thank you for the update once again - you are much appreciated.

I am amazed that the creaking has stopped for this long, as it's been a while since you had posted.

If i have the sunroof open, the car is whisper quite, but once it's closed the creaking starts getting to me. This little annoying things sometime it drives me insane and i start having thoughts whether or not i should just gone for the E550.

The fact that Sil-Glyde stopped the roof noises, makes me very happy. Should be here in 3-5 days, put the order earlier today.

I will keep the thread alive.

Finally received the shipment, applied it right away to the sunroof seal and happy to report no more creaks/noises.

The stuff is like Vaseline and can be applied by hand.

Hopefully it lasts long. Will keep you guys posted.

Update:

It's been over a month and the Sil-Glyde is still holding up. No noises or creaks.

I want to sincerely thank Kiddhan625 for posting up about this amazing product and keeping the thread updated.

It's a tremendous enjoying getting into my car and not hearing my sunroof creak during my drives.

Executive: Glad to hear Sil-Glyde has worked out for you.

I will be applying another application in the Spring. Still no issues!

I am going to jump in here just for the heck of it…..two problems at this point in time, one is that once you use Sil-Glyde and since it is like "vaseline" from what I read, it would be difficult to change to another product. And two, if you go back here to post #9 you will see that I recommended a product from Meguiars and I think most saw it as stupid and ridiculous….didn't make any sense, right ? However, after many months and washes there is no squeaking from the seal. (and it is almost invisible when applied and wipes up easily….actually looks dry afterwards….meaning it does not attract dirt )

kiddhan625, thank you. Yes, it has. The stuff is amazing and we have been getting a lot of snow, thought it would speed the process of it wearing away, but no.

I did try the Meguires a while back, but the noise came back a few days after. Then I had Jaguar replace the seal, which lasted two weeks. At that point, I thought nothing was going to fix it.

But, Sil-Glyde did.

It's a fantastic product. Jaguar should apply it on every car that comes through their door, as the new loaners have the same creaky sunroof. Stupid stuff like that gives them bad reputation.

NAPA Auto Parts private labels the exact same brand of Sil-Glyde and yes, this stuff is amazing. My '12 XF sunroof creaked, but since applying this about a month ago, not a sound. Check it out:

I too am plagued with the sun roof noises. What I'm more concerned about is a loud plasticky sounding banging from the front passenger side over bumps. Hard to narrow it down as it doesn't do it every day. Might even go a week with nothing. Also have an intermittent rattle from behind the speedometer somewhere. Again, doesn't happen everyday. Driving me crazy! Not sure how the dealer is going to treat this as I have trouble repeating it myself. It's just so embarrassing when someone is in the car as it's brand new.

My wife's XF had a similar vibration noise coming from the passenger side. At first, we thought it was the fins in the air conditioning vent, but turned out to be the aluminum tread plate on the passenger door threshold had come unglued on one end, and was vibrating. The dealer replaced it under warranty. Might be worth a look. Good luck!

Update7: Almost 1 year after the first application I am needing to re-apply Sil-Glyde to all the door seals.

It appears that in really humid weather creaking is worse. Just finished applying. Hopefully I can go another year before applying again.
