Jaguar xf 2009 v6 3.0 HEADUNIT KEEPS ACTING ON ITS OWN
Hi there follow car owners
I picked up this lovely jag two weeks ago, but sadly the head unit keeps changing audio source mainly at a steady pace on its own. This is very annoying when I'm trying to use the aux. But I have tried with no Bluetooth devices and aux devices in car and still does it. Any help would be much appreciated the steering wheel and head unit source button are both functioning properly. Sometimes it even chnages to the phone menu?

Battery is fully charged and if I change put the screen into screen save rit still manages to change. Cleaned and still same issue. Only thing that works is turning off the audio by pressing the volume knob
The phone menu thing in conjunction with source points to the steering wheel buttons that are grouped together on the left panel. They are either degraded in some way or the clockspring is on its way out, then you would also start to see every other control on there causing issues like the airbag light, volume not working sometimes, cruise error etc

Thank you for your reply.
This is all on the steering wheel electronics??? or on the headunit left side?
Steering wheel, the buttons contacts could be shorting. The thing that transmits the button signals as the steering wheel rotates is called the clock spring, but you would be seeing other stuff showing errors so it should be just the buttons.
Car keeps randomly calling and changing sources this is why im replacing I have plugged it in to diagnose machine and come up with amplifier faults. i am planning to replace amplifier but how is calling using that? My mechanic doesn't think its the clock spring. Is it more likely to be the information control module according to your diagram because there is no call function on the radio?
Before trowing parts at it I would try out Britparts suggestion and disconnect the left steering wheel controls. Simple to get at, remove the torx screw from behind the steering wheel to remove the shift pads, then you get access to the torx that holds the control. Pull out and disconnect the cable. If it keeps changing sources your issue is somewhere else.
