I downloaded both the files above but couldn't open them & I can't find a decent diagram for you as I'm doing this on my phone. The S-type had a diesel powered Webasto auxiliary heater. With the XF range they changed to an electric one. It's purpose is to help heat up the coolant quicker in cold weather, so the engine & heating warms up quicker. Do a Google search for 'Jaguar XF auxiliary electric heater' or ask your garage. Mine was easy to get to, but I have a different model.

That looks like the part but that number didn't match anything I could find.

I unplugged mine & ran with no problems for about a month; I then learned it could be programmed out & had it done. That was nearly 3 years ago.

Their primary use is for cars in countries where it gets REALLY cold. Think Norway, etc.

Glad you got to the answer, my one took over 5 weeks of looking & only found it as there was a multimeter attached when it happened to spike. So we'll call that 20 euros 😁😁

It's only the passenger side in a right hand drive car, but yes, it's the left hand footwell.

It is located to the bottom left of the entertainment unit/radio etc.
Uncover the material underneath the dash in the left hand foot well and it will be up to the right. The big red and black cables are obvious once you see them.

If that's all you unplugged then no. It's a different part of the car's systems that interferes with the a/c operation when it goes bad.

Default How do I disconnect the PTC heater?

How do I disconnect these red and black connectors?
hi! Same fault as OP. How do I disconnect these two connectors which from reading this thread power the PTC heater? They don't seem to just pull out and can't see any obvious tabs to push or pull? TIA

on my 3.0 D I had this exact same problem, and disconnecting the red plug has helped me. But I could not see the continue of this topic. What way do we fix the pre-heater? Who can programm it? No replacement is needed?

Exclamation vent problem xf

Same problem on my Jag 2012 2.2d
Thx to this thread problem resolved

It's on the left side in a left or right hand drive car,

Uncover the material underneath the dash in the left hand foot well and it will be up to the right.
It is located to the bottom left of the entertainment unit/radio etc.
Take away the blue latch with a n isolated screwdriver then gently pull out the copper +plug no need to do the negative black cable
Isolate it immediatly whit tape.

Thx to all
