Default Jaguar XF Heated/Cooled Seat Climate Module compatibility

Hey guys,

Both my seats heated and cooled functions on my seats do not work. On the diagnostic report, it only says the driver seat climate control module needs to be replaced, but the passenger doesn't work either. Maybe they didnt check it, OR does the car only have 1 module? Or 1 per seat (id imagine so).

I was wondering if these modules are compatible with that of the Jaguar XJ ? From pictures, the unit looks the same, with the same plug inlets.

Hey, I don't imagine this helps, but I wanted to leave you with some input

I have a 2015 XF (x250) with heated and cooled seats. The drive heating and cooling function has gone bad twice separately (4 different dealership visits), and the passenger side cooling has gone bad once

3 out of 5 times, it was a loose connector and the one time it was a bad compressor. I dont recall having the modules changed, just the compressors on both sides. I also had the lumbar air bags replaced on both sides. At one point they used the one from an XJ with the massaging function the did not work at all, although the fitment was the same

So although the parts may appear same, and in your case they may even work (so far it's the same generation (2009 to 2011) or (2012 to 2015)), I don't imagine there would be any issues. Reason I'm specifying the generations is because the infotainment system were different in all three generations of the XF and XJ, which may have an affect on compatibility.

The most common issue with the XF cooling/heating seats is that the plastic flex piping cracks and leaks so much that the system turns off to protect itself. Check that flexible plastic piping that is a large right angle and see if it is cracked up. Every time you move in your seat, that piping has to flex, so it's a matter of time before it cracks enough to stop working. You can fix it with duct tape, but make sure the airway isn't compressed and restricting flow when you are done. I had to put something in the piping to keep it open on the inside and not collapsing.

This is an older thread, but as most suggestions direct into cracked plastic ducts or failed Peltier elements, this might be helpful when both seats have no more heating / cooling, respectively function is intermittent.

I suggest to check the seat climate module under the right front seat. Chances are that the common ground point in the main connector has melted to pieces.

To check you need to unbolt the right front seat (4 external torx bolts). Don’t remove the seatbelt, just but the whole thing on the rear seats.

Remove the lower b-pillar cover and flip back the carpet. The module in question is labeled 8X23-14B663-AJ or similar, it has three connectors on it.

The connector in question is a Delphi 280 with 12 pins, order number 15326110, and you will need at least one new pin order number 15304711-L.

Since the light grey connector lock probably has melted down with the housing you will need to tore the grey plastic piece off in order to get access to the pins. Once the top is off, push the remaining grey plastic all the way to the side and then push each of the black plastic securing pins inwards to release the cables one by one. You can re-insert the cables in the correct order into the new connector housing.

Finally cut off the black ground cable and crimp a new pin to it. When all cables are in place, push the grey cable lock to the side to lock it.

The pin on the module itself might be corroded, I suggest to give it a good clean before reinstalling.
Chris
