Default Largest tire size on XF

OK. What is the largest tire size anyone has fitted on a stock post facelift XF. Even the pre-facelift can chime in too as I think there are no changes in the wheel well. Post pics if you got 'em please !!!

I just bought a set of 275-35/19's that came off an F Type from a fellow forum member. He has a drop and they still cleared. Will I have any issues when I go get these installed?

I have looked on tire rack and they have a 280-30/20 size that shows will fit the XF. I think this is going to tight. Cant wait to get them on !!!

Stock sizes for the XFR are 285/30/20 rear and 255/35/20 front, and this still gives plenty of clearance all around. The XFR wheel wells etc are identical to the rest of the XF range. You could easily fit 295/30/20 on the rear, and possibly even 305/30/20. I have also seen 21" and even 22" rims on an XF, I would guess with 25 or 20 profile tyres.
On the front 265/35/20 will also fit easily.
So the 19" rims from an F-Type will fit with miles to spare!

I had "wide" 295s in back and there was a lot of room left (on XFR-S wheels). With the right offset and width wheel you could probably fit 315.

315's !!!

OK...let's not get carried away. Good to know there is plenty of room in there. The wheels are the 19" Volution Tech grey. Now I am thinkg I should have gone with the 20's instead. I will see how much of a gap there is and go from there.

I also have 295's on the stock wheels and was told 305's would fit, also.... maybe next time I will.
295 = 10mm wider than stock,
305 = 20mm wider.

looks like still LOTs of room.

Guys...this is for an XF...I am not going to roll around with 305's on the rears .... It doesnt seem like 20 mm's is really that much of a increase though.... I would like to see pics of the 295's before saying it looks good or bad.

I have the 295's mounted on the OEM XFR-S wheels. Since they are 10.5" wide and have an OEM offset, they don't stick out at all.

Not the greatest photos, but it's all I have at the moment.

In the last photo, you can see how far the wheel arch sticks out from the tire.

Stock size on the XFR-S is 295/30R20 so yeah, shouldn't be a problem....

As a data point, I am running 245/45R19's on stock Caravela 19" wheels and no spacers of any kind. This size is 27.7" tall (per Tirerack site) and does not rub. However, you definitely cannot go any "taller" with this wheel arrangement without rubbing.

Default 315 tyres on rear

I currently have 315/35/20 on the rear of my XF-R but the 35 side wall is playing up with the computer..
Getting a pair of 315/30/20 to see if its the increased wheel diameter thats causing the problem.
Ps fits easily on the stock wheels without any scrubbing at all.

Yes - that's about 7.5pc more circumference for the wheel. Wonder if the system can be adjusted to deal with larger wheel size.

I'm curious what sort of error messages you are getting. How would the computer "know" what size tire is on the car? It would have to have some sort of secondary input independent of the wheels for comparison, like a GPS signal or something to know the speed did not match the revolutions. I.e. if its 7.5% off, the computer only knows the revolutions and thinks you're going 60, but only you know that you are really doing 64.5, maybe using more gas than normal for 60, but that could just be the case with a headwind or going uphill. Unless maybe its detecting a difference in size between the front and rear?

That was my guess - that speed sensors at front and rear are reading differently and confusing the computer / ABS or traction system

What is the error that you're getting?

Correct it's the speed sensors reading 2 different wheel speeds for an extended period of time and causing the system to shut down all electric driving aids to the rear/diff, even turning the car off is affected (have to hold start button down for 3 seconds)

You are doing this to keep from blowing a tire or bending a rim? They look like balloons on there, not bad, just funny to me...

The stock sizes look fine and seem fine on my car

BTW are those staggerd wheels?
