Default Loss of coolant looks like on top of engine

Hi,
I recently purchased anot 08 xf 2.7d. It's had 105k on the clock and the garage had just replaced the timing belt and I think water pump.

Anyway yesterday morning I took the car for a short drive and the coolant light came on. I filled it up with some she'll long life orange coolant (1 ltr) and it was still low after a full bottle.

After inspecting the engine bay I noticed that coolant had been leaking and was puddled in the under tray. There was a small amount of smoke/steam coming from the top of the engine so I let it cool down and then removed the plastic engine cover. It looks like it's been leaking from somewhere on the top of the engine. There's coolant on the right hand top of engine (looking from front).

Please can anyone help? I've had nothing but problems since buying the car and I'm starting to regret moving from BMW to jaguar.

I believe there's a common leak from a plastic crossover pipe in the coolant system on the non-supercharged engines and given the age and miles it would be the first place I would look. There should be several forum posts here and also on jaginfo.com as you have the diesel engine which isn’t available in the US. If they replaced the water pump, I think the general suggestion was also to replace the plastic bits while you're in there and it may be that disturbed things. If you had the water pump replaced I would check back in with the garage that did it and see if it is related....
