Default Need help deciding

Hi everyone!
I need some help. I cant decide between a 07-08 XKR and a 10-11 XFR. I am leaning towards the XFR since it has a bigger back seat for the kids, but I like the styling of the XKR better. Needless to say I am torn between the 2. What can you tell me to sell me on the XFR?

If you need a back seat for passengers, the XFR is the only choice.

We will be making trips to my home town (500 miles) 3-4 times a year to visit family. Currently we take my wifes Scion Xb, would MUCH rather take whatever car I buy. Back seat and storage area in the trunk will be important.

What he said, especially if you have more than 1 kid. A sedan would be your best option.

I've used a 2001 XK8 coupe and a 2005 XK8 Coupe for twice yearly European trips in recent years. My wife usually packs a similar amount of luggage each time.

This Christmas we took the XK to France and were pushed for storage capacity. That beautiful tailgate line seriously reduces the useable volume.

Back seat and trunk are barely usable for trips in an XKR. With kids I don't know how you will do it. Plus, you will be getting the new 5.0 engine in an XFR, not the 4.2.

I've gone from 2 XFs to an XKR. I was able to do that because my eldest daughter was about to get a license, and I didn't really drive the family around any more. The XKR is so awesome to look at it makes my eyes bleed. It is far more rigid than the XF, the steering is more direct, and the 5.0 S/C is massively faster than the 5.0NA. It is also a little more plush inside, with more leather (in a smaller area). I can get the weeks shopping in the back (just). But there is no way that I cold get either of my daughters in the back. My seat almost touches the rear seat (I'm just on 6 foot) and you can get someone behind the passenger seat (cramped) if the passenger seat is taken forward a lot, so essentially you can have 2 small passengers. If you have someone taller in the passenger seat, then you will struggle getting someone in the back. There is also no rear camera (not really a problem because the car is so low you don't need it), and the tyres which are due for replacement soon are nearly $1200 each.

The XF on the other hand looks awesome but in my mind not quite as good as the XK. It handles well but not quite as good as the XK which is much lighter. But it is so practical. The rear legroom is good (not great, but plenty good enough for a few teenagers) it seats 5, it has a massive boot (albeit a tight opening) and you don't have those huge coupe doors to deal with. And then you'll get the 5.0 S/C which is a brilliant engine, so much quicker than the 4.2 S/C, and a much more modern interior than the 07 XK.

While I love the XKR to bits, I've ended up having to drive my missus' car a fair bit on weekends, to collect kids or their friends. Even though her car isn't a slouch (Volvo s40T5) it is disappointing leaving the weapon at home, I'd like to be driving it all the time. So certainly if my kids were any younger, I'd opt for the XFR in a second.

Thank you all for the replies. I originally wanted an XKR, badly, but the lack of room in the back seat has pretty much made me look at the XFR. The more I look at them the more I like them. I have had my Lincoln Mark VIII for 12 years now and I love it, but its time for something new. I want a luxury car with some muscle, and Jaguar definitely fits the bill. My max budget is $40K so the years and models I listed above are in my price range. Most likely the XFR for the following reasons:
-room for the kids
-trunk space
-very similar performance to XKR (07-08)
-newer
-interior styling
-rarity
-should perform well at the drag strip (yes I race about once a month no matter what I am driving)

I'm sure there is more but I cant think of it now. I am very excited. I have a couple toys I will be selling first, I currently have 5 cars and a motorcycle and the boss lady wouldnt like another one in the driveway if I dont sell at least one first.

Theres a lot of info here on the site, and I've been searching mods already. I cant have a car and not modify it to make it faster or look better. Any advice on mods would be great.

Thanks again!
