New owner joining the group
Ladies and gents,
I'm just finalizing a deal on a true dream car of mine - a 2011 XFR in black with red interior. I've lusted after this car since they were released and am thrilled to be joining the owner ranks. Found a wonderful car that includes a Jag Premium extended service plan, covering all maintenance including oil changes and brakes for 4 years, 60k miles MORE (meaning that's what's left on the 100k/7 year plan). As I'll probably only own it a few years this is great for me at resale time. Seems it'll be an easy private party deal, they have title in hand and I should have a check from my bank today or tomorrow. Easy.
So now that I'm joining the ranks what do I need to know? I'll start doing some searching so I'm not looking to be lazy, I'm mainly wanted to say hi and introduce myself.
A little about me - from my screenname you might guess I'm a Lotus guy and I am. I track a heavily modified Exige (360 wheel HP at 1800 lbs - yes, it's insane) and am a certified BMW and PCA performance driving instructor. While I will absolutely take the XFR out to the track that would be a very occasional thing just to have a bit of fun with it. Primarily it will be my daily driver and/or date car. I'm 41, technology professional and am single (divorced). My Exige is decidedly uncool for a date as it's essentially a race car at this point. Previously I've owned a modded Subaru Legacy Spec.B (shockingly nice car for the money) but most recently drove an Audi RS4 (epic Colorado car). While the RS4 ate the snow for breakfast obviously the XFR will stay in the garage when the weather doesn't allow. I also have a nice '10 Pathfinder LE that will now be relegated to snow/tow duty.
And once again I find myself ordering parts for a car that isn't actually at my house yet. I'm a murder/black-out guy (and always drive black cars) so I already have headlight/taillight tint on the way. Clearbra and tint when it arrives then plastidip on all the chrome and wheels. I want her to look sinister as hell.

Welcome fellow Lotus guy. I have 1998 Twin Turbo Lotus Esprit V8. It's definitely a little more acceptable for a date car, but not as hospitable as a XFR.
The XFR should serve you well for a daily driver/date car. Although when I was single, the 911 was a very good date car for me, and my 355 was an immediate panty-dropper. Anything with a prancing horse or bull on the emblem is the true dating weapon of choice.

Welcome aboard Ross and you'll love the ride!
I have a 2010 XFR also in black and love the ride! I'm also divorced and my dates always comment and compliment the vehicle.
I like the red interior but a little over the top for me so I went 2 tone London tan which I adore.
Please post pictures once you get it and black it out!

Thanks for the welcome guys, I'll definitely find and post in the Welcome thread. As you can tell I just jumped in with a post - on LotusTalk.com I'm a moderator so I'm sorta used to just posting as I know the board so well. Anyway sorry if I over-shared, in the Lotus community we're pretty tight as it's a pretty small group as you'd guess.
As for the Exige yes, she's pretty bonkers. I have a near fully race-built motor with a massive supercharger running something like 28lbs of boost on 100 octane (but made 360 on 91). About the only goodie I didn't do was a dry sump so it's a very strong motor. I've already torn one clutch out of it as the torque went from about 110 stock to nearly 300 ft/lbs. It's surprisingly very well balanced and while you can get it sideways it really doesn't like it. Exige's are built to go around a corner fast not sideways. I'm looking forward to sliding the XFR around like Ken Block!
Interesting comments on the date car and effect the prancing pony has (I can only imagine). My RS4 did me very well also but I didn't date much at the time. A friend's R8 helped me hit paydirt on more than one occasion.
While I'll definitely post pics of the cat when I get her here's a shot of my Exige at Road Atlanta last season.

Welcome. I am a track junky too. I just do it on two wheels. My good friend's girl friend is I believe one of the officer's of the Lotus owner's group. She hosted a big Lotus meet in her home town of Asheville, NC. Wife and I will be having Thanksgiving dinner with them tomorrow.
Well the good news is that the deal is done - seller has the check and is holding the car for me until tomorrow. I fly in around 3, will have the car by 4 and on the road by 5. That'll put me home in Denver either Saturday night or early on Sunday. A fellow car-guy and race team member is going to head out and road trip back with me so it should be a pretty fun trip. Nothing like putting 1200 miles on a new toy the weekend you get it.
If only this weekend was an open-lapping weekend at my local track, how great would it be to have it on a track before it even goes in my garage! Alas I'll have to wait until around Christmas to see what she's like when being flogged full-bore. Hoping to get some video of smoke pouring off the rear tires while she's sliding sideways... Damn those tires are gonna get expensive....
Once she's in my possession I'll post up some pictures. Looking forward to the side-by-side with my Exige, I'll have a pretty great 2 car British garage.

My FD looks so tiny next to the XF, your Exige will look like a toy.
Wow, it sure does from the picture. It'll be interesting to see how big the XF is in my small garage. I know it'll fit as my 2010 Nissan Pathfinder fits just fine. The last sedan I owned was a 2008 Audi RS4 so I guess I'm not sure how much bigger the XF is than my RS4 was. Honestly I've only seen 1 in person and that was 3+ years ago so I just don't remember. I know bigger for sure.
I'll post up a picture once its in there.

nice acquisition! Awaiting pics. Never seen one with red interior.
Pictures coming shortly - just got home with her an hour ago, unpacked and now time for her first detail. She was already pretty clean but the trip home we got rained on so she needs a quick bath. So far I'm completely blown away - she's sublime cruising on the highway and a total monster when you put your foot in it. Only disappointment so far is there's no Bluetooth streaming audio, only calls. Pretty shocked that a 2011 $100k car wouldn't have something that basic.
Pictures coming soon!

Glad you like the new ride! Ref the streaming audio on Bluetooth, search the forum for Tune2Air. Lots of us have it - about 80 dollars and you plug it into the iPod cable in center armrest and it lets you stream audio via bluetooth, displays song names on display, allows vol, track skip etc. It works well.
