Default One week into XF supercharged ownership.

First- I love this car. So much nicer than the BMW I left. I do agree the XF Seats suck. They are too narrow for me.
Steering is lighter than the BMW, but the ride, it just floats. The SC 4.2 pulls so nicely It's addiciticg. Just on the highway I'm getting ~28+mpg at 70mph. Pretty good.

One question- bow do I activate the front windshield heater?

Is Mina the only option for off the shelf exhaust. ? Looking for a little more snarle.

Thanks to everyone for the advice as I was shopping!!

As your sure you have a front windshield heater? I didn't think that was available in 2009. Typically you can see the heater lines in the windshield if you have it.

There are a few other options but Mina is by far the cheapest. The combination of Mina exhaust and TCP intake on my car is fantastic. Good amount of noise when you step on it but not loud enough to annoy everyone around you. The intake allows the supercharger whine to come through a bit more as well.

Other 4.2L exhaust options:

XF and XFR

Jaguar XF SV8 4.2 - Sport Exhaust (2008-09) - QuickSilver Exhaust Systems

XF/R Sports Exhaust | Product Categories | Spires

Jaguar XF Exhaust System and Jaguar XF Exhaust Mufflers super sport jaguar xf exhaust cat back

Jaguar XF Milltek Exhaust (Rear Silencers) 2009 4.2L, Eurotoys,Ltd.

Down pipes with high flow cats:
Jaguar XF 4.2 Catalytic Converters

Well, the owners manual talks about the heated windshield. Maybe it doesn't though. Oh crap. I just realized that the used car dealer put a new windshield in the car prior to sale. No way they would have put the heated in..... Damn.

Just looked over the owners manual again and I don't have the button for it, so phew.... No loss.

I'll look into the Mina combo down the road.

The owner's manual is generic and contains info/details of all the options, so just coz it's in the manual doesn't mean your car has it!

I put straight pipes in mine (muffler delete) and it sounds badass, however there is a drone at low speeds. Still working on sound proofing because it can be annoying to passengers.

If it's any assistance, and I have a 2014 XF, mine comes automatically when the outside temp goes below 2 Celsius/ 36 Fahrenheit, as does the rear defogger.

28 MPG is astonishingly good, in fact it's way better than the EPA numbers! I did a trip last week, Portland to Redmond, WA ~200 miles each way at and average speed of 65 MPH and got 21.8 MPG.

Congratulations! I am glad that you are enjoying the new ride. I have had similar results with mpg. I travel over Afton Mountain every day (about 15 miles each way) and I am averaging 20-21 mpg during the week. On longer trips (100 miles or so) I have gotten as high as 28 but usually around 25-26 mpg, so it can be done.

It seems odd that it would be in the 2009 manual though. It wasn't available in 2009 in any XF.

In the US. It was available in other markets.....

Here's a review from 2009 in the UK where their XF has the heated WS - http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-rev...m-test-review/

At 4:34 in this video, this Canadian 2009 XF SC is mentioned as having heated WS -

Yeah, I get nowhere near that either, but I blame my driving habits.

I have gotten it a few times just driving on highways. City is much lower, but overall I'm really impressed with the mileage. As good or better then my 545i!!!
