Default Overheating/ Limp Mode - Will motor shutdown if overheating

Guys,

Curious after reading some stories on cooling system failure if our cars will actually shutdown if overheating, or if they will only enter limp mode all the while continuing to overheat. Will the car actually shutdown if it gets too hot?

Thanks!

It may do eventually although I don't think it shuts down by itself. But I've seen several posts from people who ignored the warning to drive the "2 miles home" and destroyed the engine in the process...

They only shutoff when there's too much coolant in the cylinders. I highly recommend that when the light comes on, pull over immediately. There is no overheating light on these cars. I have done multiple engine replacements due to people driving after that light comes on.

So I've notice with my car rough idol weather engine is cool or not - some times on cold starts thick smokes -

I found when I release the air on the coolant reservoir tank at night- car would be good for a couple of days - no smoke no rough idol no lights-

my mechanic says these cars have a very high pressure in the coolant system-

But i know this is not normal- i already changed out water pump due to leaking - and changed out plastic coolant pipes that were found leaking as well - also changed out Reservoir with cap- all OEM parts

Has anyone experienced this issues ?

Im using orange coolant prestone 50/50

I would perform a forum search. I know there has been threads about this. I think it was from X351 forum but the engines are still the same. That may be some help.
