Panel Gap's
Hi everyone,
So I took the car in for a recall and some other issues that were bugging me.
[ol][*]Passenger side wiper would not retract below the windshield's black boarder after use(had to manually push it down) - Fixed by dealer2)[*]The black coating inside the tail pipes is flaking off and they do not know if it will be warrantied(I did no scrubbing) [>:] - Waiting for warranty verification[*]Passenger side speaker has some foam seal hanging in front of it - Dealer ordered the part[*]2 rubber stops on the front underside of the hood fell off and one is lost - Ordered (how can you put rubber stops on an adhesive and expect them to last [>:][*]Driver side hood to fender gap was noticibly larger than the other side and other vehicles in the showroom. The dealeer told me that there is nothing they can do since they do not have that capability there, I basically thought to my self "you idiot". I went home and loosened the 4 fender screws and guess what... the fender snapped 2/16 inward effectively fixing the issue lol.[*]Radio reception is really not the best in this car, I have had BMW's for a long time and never had that issue. I basically get static sometimes on the 2 strongest stations in my area. They did the latest software update and he told me to check and see if I still get this issue. hmmmm[*]One other thing that might not be an issue but my hood latches are loose, anyone elses like that?
[/ol]So they fixed all the issues besides the panel gap, speaker, tail pipes and the radio(unless the update fixed that).
I also found it interesting that after the upload they reset all the stats and the radio and did not set my clock( no biggie but J.D. should expect that kind of customer service)
Also does anyone else feel that the footwell cover on the driver side is nothing but cheap and a of bad design? Mine just hangs down and the top of my foot hits it when moving from break to gas.
So here it is, my tidbit to help us all out.
Oh almost forgot, the software update changed the sound of the turn signal to a more of a softer gingle
Thank you

The techs at your dealership must run when they see you pulling in.. lol I love it, you make the rest of us seem so laid back and understanding.. Good luck with your car though and I hope it holds up the way you want it to.. Keep us posted on anything else you notice, Im waiting for the XFR before I trade my car in..

WOW..
I have what seems like a bit of play in my hood - maybe 1/4 an inch if i push on it.. i thought maybe the latches were loose.. it doesnt bother me, and i havnt really given it a second thought.. ok, well not a third thought.. never noticed the footwell thing..
Mine is spending the night at the dealer as I type this getting the seatbelt recall and reprogramming thing for the turn-signal sound right now... now i'm curious if they are going to reprogram everything for me or not. damn, i hope i dont have to re-pair the car to my iPhone ..

Randy..
I envy that you have the XF and hope to myself one day..but I had a chance to look one over pretty good a while back and I think I wrote about it here somewhere..but the biggest disappointment I found about them was the thin sheet metal on the body and doors, including the boot and bonnet lids..very flimsy to say the least....Im also glad I'll be waiting on the second or third generation, before I get one, as I see these little bugs are getting worked out..again this is testimony to NOT buy the first ones off the assembly line or first year models....the X type should have taught us that lesson.
Good luck with yours and I hope all the problems are solved.
