Default Park Assist Switch

Does anyone know what the park assist switch in the overhead console is supposed to operate? The manual states it is an on/off switch, but i have yet to get it to function. Anyone actually use it?

Turn it on just before you pull into the garage or park near something. It will beep, and beeps will get faster as you get closer to something and become a constant tone when you are I believe a foot away from the object. Use mine all the time as I have 3 cars packed into a 2 car garage. Oh, and it will also give you a visual on the navigation screen.

yes. When you are out on the highway though, you want to turn it off so it doesn't go off in traffic. It becomes an annoyance to some people.

I suspect my switch is not working properly. I cant turn the systenm on with the switch. When it is pressed 9on position) does you switch light up? In the full user manual it sates it is an on/off switch, but in the quick guide it states its an off switch.

After drinng over 10 mph I undertsand the system turns off and if I apprpoach a parking space, is the proper way to engage this feature is by switch?

Don't remember if it lights up. I'll check tomorrow, but I do have to activate it to use it (by pressing the button). When I pull it out (in reverse), I've never had to press the button to activate it - it just activates itself (maybe reverse triggers it).

It is enabled under 10mph. Once over it will deactivate until you drop below 6mph where it will again be active. The switch defaults to on with ignition cycle. One press will turn it off (the red LED will illuminate) this is off. Press again, the LED will go out, this is front park aid back on.
It only deactivates front parking aid, not rear.
Also, if you get a long tone when you put in reverse with nothing behind you and the red LED on the roof console switch is on automatically, that indicates a fault with system.

Looks like I will need to take my car back to the dealer for this malfunction. The thing that iritates me is that I brought this defect to the dealer on my last visit.....their response? functioning correctly...amazing....the switch does nothing........I am dealing with incompetence.......After paying clse to $60,000 for a car, you would think you would get comeptent technicians like my colleage in Florida..

I am going to stay on my delaer to get this right...

Or Jcapotos - Take a little vacation to So. Florida. I will be more than happy to get paid by Jag to fix the problems that another dealer cannot.

update on the switch...once i convinced the dealer that the switch was not working, on the second try, they pulled the switch and realized it had a bad connection. It is fully operational, and can be used to turn the assist on AND off.
