Default Parking Aid

Hi, I have an Jag XF, when I turn the car on I have a constant tone & the computer says parking aid not working, contact your jaguar dealer. Does anyone know of any checks I can make myself before taking it in.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Helen, I can't unfortunately comment on the XF, but on other cars I have owned it's generally a faulty parking sensor.

Are we talking front or rear?

From past experience if one sensor goes faulty it throws the whole sytem out..
If its the rear, turn the igntion on ( don't start the car ) and put it into reverse. If you put your ear close to each sensor in turn you may hear a very low tick tick tick ...that should indicate a working sensor.

If you do not hear that then thats your faulty sensor.

Obviously getting any codes read would be the best idea first if at all possible?

Hopefully some of the XF gurus may be along shortly to give you the best advice.

Good luck

Thanks Jim, but with the XF you can't put the car in reverse without turning it on as the gear control is a pop up one. Just trying to find out where the fuse is, if there is one

No need to check for the fault. It will be a failing sensor. These are pretty cheap and very easy to install. Warranty still good? Then free at your dealer.

Thanks Jag,
Probably have to take it to the garage,no way of knowing which one it is. Just as a mater of interest would you know where the fuse, if it has one, is :-)
