Default Parking brake fault/apply foot brake and Apply parking brake

So a few months ago I was just driving like normal and the next morning the cars parking brake was stuck on it felt like.
The car however said push brake and apply parking brake along with parking break fault, I tried to calibrate, disconnect the battery and reconnect it but to no avail.
Fast forward about about a month (at that point the battery had died) so I went to get a charge and they told me it was shot but still covered by warranty.
I had put in the new one and the lights that said apply brake were gone like nothing happened, so I thought it may have been a battery issue, but later that day the lights came back on.
so at this point the brake is stuck on and I’m at a loss as of what to do, I’m not the most tech savvy or mechanically savvy and just want to learn more about my car

I’ve ordered a new parking brake module and I’m hoping that’s the issue.
really just looking for some guidance as to what direction to go
if anyone would be able to point me in the direction of the possible issue it would be so much help thank you!

Check the quiescent current in case it's high (in which case battery & brake problems will result).

Default stuck electric parking brake

Had this problem upon leaving a parking garage. With the engine running and the car in neutral, I opened the drivers door far enough to reach the pay stand. When i got back in the car and closed the door and shifted the gear to drive, the auto parking brake had set automatically! When I tried to move, I couldn't. It turns out that some cars with auto parking brake will automatically set when the engine is running and the gear lever is not in Park. It is a safety function. The ticket agent that had a truck with electric parking brake had the same issue and he resolved it by placing the gear in park, turning the engine off and opening and closing the door. It worked and I was on my way.

That's a fix for many cars with auto stop start. Lots of issues that you pull up for something. Auto engine stop start pauses the engine. You are getting out thinking car is turned off. But as you climb out and lift foot off the brake pedal the engine restarts - and off the car rolls with you halfway out the door
So they are set so the auto parking brake activates or even turns off the engine altogether when drivers door opens
