Poo87 low feul rail pressure
Ok and thanks much!
The reason I asked is the 4.2L and the later 5.0L use very different setups. Good job using a mechanical gauge as that eliminates any question about what the pressure is. 50 psi is plenty so I think fuel supply is fine.
These later 4.2L engines (Starting in 2006 Jaguar removed the Schrader test port on the 4.2L engines) do not have a Schrader test port or I would have you depress the center of the valve and see how strong a flow of gas you get.
The ECT does not prevent starting so I would look at the basics.
BUT I find that code number (P0165) as an O2 sensor code and not a ECT code? Can you double check?
P0165 is a slow response code for the rear O2 sensor. Bank 2 position 3.
How many miles on the car and have any of the O2 sensors ever been changed?
Do you have spark?
Are the plugs wet after you crank the engine and get a no start? You do have 50 psi but can you hear the pump run for a few seconds when the key is first turned on?
Yes to prime the fuel system cycle the key on and off several times. WITHOUT trying to turn over the engine. As I posted above this will run the fuel pump for several seconds regardless of how much pressure is in the fuel rail. It would be helpful to have your mechanical fuel gauge hooked up when doing this.
Does the pressure go up with every cycle of the key?
Can you post back any numbers?
As always first clear all codes and see what comes back as you might be seeing "historical" codes from sometime in the past.
