I've been doing a ton of searches but am getting different results with nothing concrete. Can someone please give me a quick definitive answer on what fluid I should use for the P/S and Brake systems on my '09 XFs/c?
The dealer says both are needing to be flushed and replaced (for $350/per service). This is something I can do myself, but I don't want to botch the fluid compatibility.
Brakes: I'm assuming a "Super DOT-4" (low viscosity) or "DOT 5.1" (NOT DOT-5 silicone based) would be fine.
Power steering: It was darker "green" when I sampled it (not red like ATF or clear like "standard" power steering fluid). Level is fine, so no leaks present, and I've never heard of a PS pump burning the fluid and making it change color. Is this a pentosin CHF11s type hydraulic fluid?
When I google search "'09 Jaguar XF power steering fluid", I consistantly get two hits for Prestone and Beck Arnley fluids that claim "for all CHF11s European systems - including Jaguar, Mercedes, Audi, BMW".
If it is CHF11s, that would be awesome since I have 3 sealed Litres of MB Pentosin that I used for my Mercedes ABC suspension hydraulics and steering system.
I just don't want to be mixing a Dex III/IV steering fluid into a pentosin system (I don't think they get along).
Thanks again guys!!

What does the manual say? Usually the owners manual will list the fluids. I haven't had to change any (except oil) yet so I haven't looked. When I leave work in an hour I'll take a look.

I can't but the Jaguar Owner's Handbook (JJM 18 02 40 901) for the 2010 MY US specification gives the following:Originally Posted by Tanman

BRAKE FLUID
Shell DOT4 ESL is preferred. If unavailable, a low viscosity brake fluid that meets ISO 4925 specification may be used.
POWER STEERING FLUID
Mobil ATF320 PAS fluid is preferred. If unavailable, a fluid meeting Dexron III specification may be used.

That would lead one to believe they are using ATF (Dextron III) for power steering fluid.
Here is a post on the brake fluid:

Castrol sells a variant that meets that ISO spec:
