Default pulley upgrade 2010 xfr? anyone do it?

Hello everyone has anyone done the pulley upgrade from Mina Gallery I'm wondering if I need a tune after that or if I can just change the pulley for extra power I already have K&N air filters and an intake and I have an cat back exhaust. However I still feel like there's not enough power I want to boost my throttle response and I'm thinking of doing the pulley upgrade I just want to know if it's worth the $200 plus I'll have to pay someone over $200 to put it in and will it be easy to do for someone if anyone is done this please let me know what your thoughts are thank you

You don't *have* to, it will still give you some more power. I changed mine last year and it gave me a bit more toe, but unless you remap the engine and transmission you're not going to get the best out of that upgrade. A pulley and a remap will definitely give you a more responsive car.

Getting the pulley off the SC snout is a pain, you either have to cut it off (without damaging the SC) or heat it off (without melting the SC).

I just upgraded my supercharger pulley last week, took about 30 minutes in total. I have a 2013 XF Supercharged (5.0). I used a tool from a Company called ALTA. Part number is ENG-208. Cost me $65 from eBay, very easy to use. I rented a Harmonic Balancer pulley from Autozone and it fit perfectly. The pulley came off undamaged. Heated the pulley with a Plumbers torch for about 2 minutes, slide right on with no issues. I’ll add some pictures of the setup and tool. Both my tune and Pulley are from VelocityAP, makes a huge difference

go with the crank pulley I did a crank pulley and tune from eurotoys and I flat out love it. I have a x pipe mina intake and axle back. There has not been one person that has ridden in my car that hasn't said damn this is fast!

I think you should tune it if you change the pulley it makes such a difference. my advice is reach out to the experts and get their take then make the move. I dealt with Mike at eurotoys and am biased to him as I was so happy with the product and service.
maybe open up the middle of ur exhaust with a x pipe rather than install a pulley without a tune, likely the same gains and it will sound better.

Hello Swilmer52,
I noticed that you have some water on the engine in the pic after the pulley has been installed and I was wondering if there was some reason for that?
also, just to be clear, did you only heat the replacement pulley before install, or did you need to heat the original pulley before using the removal tool?
I'm interested in all the steps related to the pulling and installing that were necessary if you have time to detail. I have had a pulley in my toolbox for a couple years now and just never got around to it. SInce I am home now, I have time and need a distraction from the TV news...
Thanks.

I only heated the replacement pulley, the stock pulley did not require any heat for the removal. I had a bottle of ice cold water so the replacement pulley would contract due to the instant cooling of the cold water on the heated pulley which will cause it to set onto the shaft of the supercharger. I also used the cold water to keep the rest of the supercharger cool to prevent the heat from the pulley spreading and damaging any seals, just incase. I’m located in Southern California, I’m willing to loan the tool. Just pay the shipping both ways.
