Put the Cayenne up for sale...
The XF bug must of got me....
Still VERY torn between Audi S4 and XF SC or XFR (seems they are close in price for 2010s)
I really need an all around GREAT daily driver.
The S4 has less power but the mpg (I drive a lot) is still the same with the XF SC...
Help me out here guys...

You should be able to get balanced views, since there a lot of Audi fans on here.
I personally don't like Audis at all.
Have you driven either one?
Jaguar is very exclusive and the Audi.....you will be passing yourself every 2 minutes on the road.

I just bought a '10 XFR and one car I test drove was the previous gen S4, it is in many individual ways opposite of the XF's. The V8 S4 was a choppy, short geared, low torque car that had absolute claws in the corner. I loved the cornering grip but really disliked the lack of torque and general business of the car.
In my humble opinion, if you're considering these two cars side by side you've got some thinking left to do before making your choice. They're just so different.
Powertrain, interior and luxury are all vastly superior in the supercharged/r versions. Not too mention the S4 was just too small for a young family.

Audi are very much over rated. I have a 2001 S4, biturbo. The engineering is poor as is the quality control. The cabins are cramped and the cars are overweight. The A8, S8 and R8 seem to be the exceptions although I have only ridden in an A8 and not driven any of them. These are very expensive alternatives to a Jaguar.
The new S4 is the best car Audi makes for the money. It drives well and is nicely fitted out.
I would not buy one. They are just not very good cars. However, many people profess to love their Audis. I am unable to figure out why.
My XF is an absolute joy to drive. The more I drive it the more I want to drive it. The Audi leaves me cold. Even in the depths of severe winter driving I enjoy the XF more than the much vaunted Quattro.
If you think you love driving stay away from anything German short of a Porsche.

I came from a B7 S4 (V8) to the XFR and can concur with everything said above - mine was an auto though, so the short gearing wasn't apparent, nor really the lack of torque. The XF SC is a lot more powerful of course, as the numbers would suggest. I don't think that the new S4 has moved on significantly, other than much updated design and features. Performance wise it is pretty similar to the old S4.
The Audi is a great car and if you do a lot of driving on twisties in poor conditions you will have a lot more confidence in the Audi, at least at first. But it is so competent I found it dull, ultimately. I agree with others that they are very different cars. It is hard to recommend one over the other, so you need to find the key features which matter to you and decide on that alone, maybe.
