Default Question about second battery.

My second battery is bad but I like that the ECO stop doesn't shut the car off at stop lights.

Can I just leave it as is or will that put strain on the electrical system? Namely the alternator. Can I just remove the thing and solve any strain on the alternator. Pull the negative and possitove leads and insulate them?

Does this throw codes or cause any issues? If I have to replace the battery to keep from causing other issues, can I do something to deactivate the eco stop?

Thanks...

How do you know it is bad? Did you get a warning? I just went through a battery and alternator replacement and wonder about what to do with the second battery before it leads to something else breaking.

Yes. It was tested and bad. The Eco function turns off if the 2nd battery is not strong enough to keep the cars systems powered up wile the car sits off at a light. So it stays idling. That's the way I understand it. This is great. I don't want the stop/start function operating.

But I don't want to destroy my alternator or anything else trying to charge a weak battery all the time.

Can I just disconnect the battery and not cause any problems?
