Angry Radiator damage

Hi All new to the Forum

I have an issue that I would appreciate some help with please.

My xfs 2012 (great car) developed a problem as the cooling light came on, after topping up with coolant I realised that I needed to call jaguar help.

After towing back into the dealer, the dealer rang me and said the radiator was not covered by the warranty as it was accidental damage.

I have not hit anything to heard a stone rattling around etc, and no signs of any damage to underside, front fairing etc

Jaguar customer care have saidI need to pay £700, i am really not comfortable with this, and disappointed it is not covered, I have taken photos of the damaged radiator, and am thinking of taking legal advice

Your thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks

Welcome to the forum Kzbaggie,

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Advice / Feedback & Suggestion Center to X250 forum. The Advice / Feedback & Suggestion Center is for posts about the forum and not for technical questions. Members here with the same model could have experience of radiator damage.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Welcome, what is the dealer's reasoning to believe it was damaged? What are the signs of damage; gash; holes, ?

If stone damaged then likely not covered by insurance or warranty, but a windshield would be covered... why not a radiator.

Trouble is you can see the stone hit the windshield how do you prove the stone hit the radiator?

Would not be covered by warranty unless a manufacturing defect.

Not clear when blown up. But i dont even see evidence of red coolant there. Sure it doesnt need a new water pump on a 5litre

Looks to me like it broke from some sort of stress around where it was mounted, not from something impacting it.

That looks like something came in contact with it. It doesn't look like a defect or a failure in the manufacture or improper installation of the radiator. I can't imagine how that would have occurred, but it looks like little time passed between the breakage and the failure from the breakage. If it occurred over a period of time, you'd see trails and accumulation of crude. It should be repairable if you take it to a shop that specializes in radiator repair. The rest of it looks nearly new.

Jaguar have confirmed today they will not cover the works under the warranty.

I have no other damage to the front or the underside of the car that would indicate how the radiator got damaged.

Not sure where to go from here, I think I will take legal advice as I have done nothing wrong and at no time have I felt or heard any stones/kerbs or anything else rattling around the radiator

Any thoughts
