Today I purchased a red OEM XJR grill badge for my 2012 XF Portfolio w/Sport Pkg. I was told by the seller (a Jaguar dealer) that they are compatible.
Has anyone installed/replaced a grill badge on a 2012 XF?

 

The red XJR was smaller in diameter than the current one, so I left it alone for now, hoping the newer XFs will have the red growler on the grill and an OEM XF part comes available.

 

There is one on sale on ebay but it is also the smaller 70mm one of the XJ. I measured my XK and it is the larger one at 85mm. But he has all the VINs listed for which it would fit. I see on the configurator that the 2014 XKs also have the red growlers so it should be available to purchase as a part.

Someone on the forum has put the larger one in his XF. Wasn't a direct fit, but worked.

 

I would like to replace my black with red are they available?

 

I put the new larger badge on my 10 XF grille. I used two part epoxy clay and mixed a good amount and basically epoxied it in the opening. It fits almost exactly in the chrome ring, just about flush. You'd never know it wasn't factory. I'll snap a pic in the morning and post. I may have already here but I can't find the pic on my phone.

 

I did find the correct size for '12 and newer XFs.
They are 85mm, and since the red ones are standard on '14 models, they are widely available.
For my 2012 XF, the part # is C2P25690.
Your dealer should be able to find the correct size based on your VIN.

Hi DD...was this easy to change? I did locate at the dealer for 62.78$
The gent wasnt 100% sure of fit yet.

They are affixed with adhesive only. I removed my old one using a very small screw driver used for eye glasses and gently pried around the edges enough to place the spray straw of a can of WD-40 and sprayed the solvent down the back of the badge. I let it sit for about 15 minutes to dissolve the rest of the adhesive. Worked like a charm. CAUTION: before you pry around the edge, place a soft cloth or something similar around the edges of the surround to prevent scratches/dents.
Before mounting the new badge, thoroughly clean off the WD-40 so the surface is clean and dry. I wiped the area with alcohol and it worked great. Good luck!

 

FYI. You can always paint yours red. If you pop out any of 07 badge and on, you can take it apart. The chrome face and outer ring can simply be pushed off from behind, leaving just the black back ground. Clean the black part with alcohol and wash very well with soap and water, removing all soap, then use the new plastic paint, like fusion plastic paint, let dry overnight, pop back in the chrome face and ring, then add new badge tape and replace. You could actually paint any color. I painted a friends dark green and he ordered the green growlers (new style) for his wheels. It was on a black car. Looked really great. Very British.

 

Thanks DD and Philhef....was able to locate a 70mm RED Badge from SNG Barret for 42.00$ ..Blackcoog provided the details..I'll look to pry the badge as receommended and re-stick new one....

 

For those of you using tape to reattach, take note my dealer used this method to my badge when they transferred it to my new black grille. The badge fell off somewhere while I was driving. It was an extremely cold day and previous night ( under ten degrees) so maybe the tape couldn't hold at that low temperature or maybe they used poor quality tape. I believe one member here used epoxy to attach. That is route I will take when I get my new one.

 

The tape you buy at the auto zone type stores isn't a sticky and the kind you get ant a anti motive paint supply shop. I buy mine at our local auto paint store. It's actually black, not gray, and far more sticky.
And as for cold, you're right. I've noticed the gray 3m tape doesn't initially stick well in the cold. If its installed in warmer weather or heated with a hairdryer as well as the surface it's going on, it's a much better adhesion.

 

I painted my Growler emblem last night and it was ridiculously easy. On a scale of 1-10 on the difficulty scale, this is a 1.

A small screwdriver separated the outer ring from the backing, then used the same screwdriver in the seam between the backing and grille to pry it out. The stock double-sided tape isn't terribly strong so it took only minimal effort to pull the backing out of the grille.

Then all three pieces just separate easily (backing, ring, growler). I applied 3 coats of Primer for Plastic to the backing, and then 3 coats of a brilliant red. Let it dry overnight and this morning I put on some 3M double-sided tape on the back, snapped all the pieces back together and pressed the entire emblem back into place. I cannot even begin to express how easy this was... and it looks fantastic. I'll post a picture later.

Total investment: $5.96 for red paint (already had primer and double-sided tape)

SNG Barratt had both sizes available ...see pic. Easy removal and install.

 

When I realized how easy it was to take it apart, I made a rear lit third brake badge. I constantly get asked if it was an option! I used an adamesh grille chrome plinth and a red truck led marker puck. Took some cutting and such. Cutting the boot lid was the point of no return. But I'd never go back!! Im working on a front lit badge as we speak. More subtle, just a ring of light around the outside.
