Default Remap including EGR valve delete on my 2.7D XF

Hello.

I'm new to the forum so apologies if this subject is covered elsewhere but I couldn't see it under the XF section so decided to start a new thread here.

Based in the UK I'm booked in with Celtic tuning for a Remap and will be getting the EGR's deleted at the same time. The company come highly recommended.

I've been informed that I'll need to blank off the EGR valves myself as the technician just does the ECU side of things.

It makes sense to me to blank off at the inlet end of the valve but I guess it doesn't matter too much as long as there is no flow through the valve. Does anyone know of any issues with blanking off the outlet instead because it would be much easier to get to?

Also is blanking strictly necessary if the valves aren't in fault? Surely just unplugging them and having the fault codes mapped out would serve the same purpose as they would be in the normally closed position until actuated.

Thanks in advance

How will you pass emissions without the EGR?

There is no problem with it passing an emissions test in the UK, and currently it isn't illegal to remove the EGR's here either.

It IS illegal. There are detailed threads on the net pointing to the government's statement to that effect if you look.

You will also have to tell your insurer. Failing to do so is also illegal and you would have broken your contract rendering it void.
