Default Request.

Hi all-making a few inquiries re possible purchase of an XKR. Details-2014 Dynamic with 25000 miles, Jaguar dealer, black. Must be 1 of the last before stopping production. Unfortunately cannot see vehicle as yet, but notice it has had 4 previous owners-a little strange. Have researched the XKR model & very impressed overall. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

One of the things I've noticed shopping for Jaguars is they all go through several "owners" early. They are almost universally "leased" to the first driver for one or two years. Luxury new car buyers like to trade up frequently. That "newness" is part of the "luxury" aspect. Get two chips in the paint and a wrinkle in the leather and they can't wait to turn it in. Then the lease returns are sold as "certified used" with a pretty decent warranty. These second buyers almost always trade in just before or as the warranty runs out because they are scared to have a European luxury car without a warranty. So by about five or six years old, nearly every Jaguar is sold to its third owner who is taking advantage of the rapid depreciation. The third owner is either a DIY'er like many found on this forum who figure they can fix whatever might break OR they are gamblers who've done their homework and reason that the depreciated cost makes a used Jaguar worth taking a chance considering the relatively low risk of compound or catastrophic failure. Now if its had a fourth owner already at such low miles and only six years old, then you need ask why. Did that third owner gamble and lose or was it something minor and they just got spooked? Study the repair records. Post here if you think anything looks suspicious. If the dealer can't or won't share the records. Walk away. Good luck.

Thanking You for your reply-will make inquiries with the dealership. I have previously bought 2 Jaguars off them & know the manager quite well.
