Should I be worried?
So I've had my car for 2 days now, man is it fun. I'm glad I went with the sc. My only concern is that last night I went to run some errands and out of nowhere I get a "transmission fault" message in the dash. I pulled over turned it off waited a minute then started it up again. The check engine light was on so instead of finishing my errands I just drove home. When I got home decided to google "transmission fault jaguar xf" and I came across this page called jaguarxfproblems.com I read it and decided to try something it said to do to check if you got a bad engine. (Rev it to 1000rpm n listen for some noise). Anyways when I turned the car back on and guess what no more check engine light. Is this common? I'm going to the dealership tomorrow I will mention it to the service advisor. Could it be cause I was driving it too hard? Idk but today I tried to replicate the results I drove it super hard (surprised I haven't got a ticket yet, knock on wood) and nothin just wasted a full tank of gas lol. Any and all input is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I think the users of this forum would like a lot more information about your vehicle. Definitely worth getting investigated.
Now where I"m confused is that you said you were trying to "replicate the results," yet it happened "out of nowhere." This sounds a tad contradictory. I've seen Jags go into "limp mode' if you do something that could damage the engine. If you were using the Dynamic mode you could have done a variety of things that it just didn't like.

Sorry I shouldn't laugh, but I had a look for that website you mentioned, and I found it Jaguar XF problems and reviews.
That site is owned by an ambulance-chasing law firm, they have dozens of sites like that for different makes/models. It's nothing more than a scare-campaign to try & get people in on class-action lawsuits so the lawyers can MAKE MONEY. Don't worry about it.
1. Chill out, relax, take it easy...
2. Take your car back to the dealer
3. Get them to read all the trouble-codes DTC's and give you a printout of them all BEFORE they start erasing them
4. Report back with what they've said
and 5. get yourself a codereader/scanner so that next time something like this happens you can plug it in & get the code yourself.
Really it could have been anything, like a stuck valve in the evaporative emissions system, or something equally innocuous...

I bought this one from Ebay and couldn't be happier. Then get the Torque app if you have Android (not sure the equivalent if you have Apple). I leave mine plugged in all the time and it never gives me any issues with the battery as I've heard other have had with competing products. Anytime I want to know what's going on with the car, I just pull up the app and all data is available to me.

I want to get a BT one in addition to my wired ELM327. The wired one is in the way all the time.
The OBD port points strait down. Is the BT one out of the way so my legs and knees won't hit it?

Mine is so thin that it takes a little effort to get enough grip to pull it out. And I have really long legs and have never noticed it. When I first got it I would pull it out. Then I forgot about if for two months and now never take it out since I haven't had any issues with the battery.
