Looking for a bit of advice/knowledge

I had a garage who changed the steering rack on my xf.2.7 as I had a leak and the steering was tough.

A few weeks later the steering was getting as it was when I took it to the garage the first time but not a frequently.
So I took the car back and the garage kept the car for the whole day but could not replicate this fault.


Few days later I am driving on the motorway and was stopped by a lorry driver who told me something was flapping underneath my car.
On visual inspection I couldn't see anything hanging down. As I continued driving I was hearing a noise under the vehicle and now the
coolant warning light has come on.

So, I drive to the garage who carried out the work on the steering rack. Now I find the skid plate to the front is coming away and the garage
said it because I hit a cardboard box (which I haven't and have a dashcam to show all journeys).

Can anyone offer up if this is at all possible I don't believe it? I think they left out or didn't tighten a few bolts when carrying out the initial work.

If your under tray (I wouldn't call it a "skid plate", since it's only plastic, and WON'T protect your car from any serious impact) is anything like the one on my '09 XF, here's the deal....See those two holes on the "leading edge" of the tray, right where the cardboard is stuck? That leading edge tucks behind the front most tray, the one that is attached to the lower edge of the front bumper. Two screws, the ones that the "dumbasses who worked on your car" forgot to re-install, go through those holes, and secure it to the car.

In other words, yes, you've got a piece of cardboard stuck to your car......It's there because THEY screwed up!!
