Default small problem, huge issue

Wondering if anyone on the forum has any ideas or can help: 2010 XFR, the front interior lights (located in front of the rear view mirror) comes on all by itself. There are three lights (left, middle, and right) all operated by touch. The one on the far right will just pop on during every day driving. Normally I catch it right away and turn it off but there are times when I don't realize it and drive for miles with it on (during the day). Well apparently over the weekend I parked in my garage after work on Friday and didn't realize it was on. Didn't use the car all weekend and tried to drive to work on Monday morning with the battery dead. Called AAA and they brought out a guy to jump it, but I ended up buying a new battery. Problem is, I'm afraid it will happen again. Car is just outside of warranty by a couple months. Is there any way to completely disconnect those overhead lights or do I have to bring it to my dealer and let them rob me blind for a whole new light assembly plus labor? Monday wasn't a big deal but I can see a time when I really have to be someplace and can't start my car because of a dead battery. Got home tonight and parked in the garage. Came back out to the garage about 30 minutes later to grab a beer and I noticed the interior light was on again. Luckily I caught it but as you can imagine, now I'm paranoid. Any advice would be appreciated.

That is a well known issue. I haven't had mine fixed yet, but you can find a number of good posts if you search this forum. IIRC, the dealer wants like $700 to change the whole upper console, but you'd be best to search this section and find exactly.

Jaguar has a new fix for this problem. You can now replace the printed circuit for much cheaper than a complete roof console.

Remove the bulb. How often did you use that light, anyway?

I had the circuit board replaced under the CPO warranty.

It is very common.

It took 4 months for the board to come it, but that was when my first dealer was shuttered an the second dealer had to completely reorder the board.

Now that it is fixed, all the touch sensors work much better. The glovebox now works all the time were before it was a big pain to get to open.

Don't panic yet. Although those lights can obviously discharge your battery over time, a good battery should carry them at least overnight and probably for a day or two. So, until you get it fixed, you can at least finish your beer without worrying!

I have the same problem of those lights coming on by themselves also. I changed out the incandescent bulbs for LEDs, which use much less power, so you could consider doing that swap, leaving them in place even after the new circuit board arrives.
