Snow Tires 2 or 4 ?
Looking for some advise before I purchase my snow tires, should I buy 2 or all 4?
That said, not looking to tear up the twisties during the winter in New England, just get me back and forth to work safely. Back in the day (60's) we put 2 snow tires on our rear wheel cars and did just fine.
Cheers, Kevin

The only recommendations now are to use snows on each wheel. Do you remember seeing cars with the front tires locked and sliding while the rears with snows kept pushing/rotating? Not a good situation. Imagine how poorly modern ABS and stability control would be when the front tires start skidding easily. All four tires really do need to match on modern cars to handle safely and predictably, so if you need snows on the back you also need them on the front.

yes 4 are a must. Something I remind people that are frustrated buying another complete set of rubber and rims....they will almost always have good life in them after you are get rid of the car. They are extremely easy to resell....and get some good value out of.
ALWAYS use four. The main reason to use snow tires is to maximize braking traction so always fit four good snow tires.
Back in the day we used to think snow tires were to get going and not get stuck. Now we are wiser and realize nobody ever hit anything by failing to get going. On the other hand, once moving.....
