speed limiter

speed limiter
I just bought a 2014 XF and I am so thriiled! But it appears that there is a speed governor on the V6 model at 121, apparently tire related. I notice the tires have no speed rating letter on them. If I get appropriate speed rated tires, any chance the governor can be adjusted up? Up to 120, it isn't much slower than my late 2000 Corvette.

While it is true that the drastic speed limiting (officially 121mph) on this model allows for somewhat cheaper H rated (130mph) tires, the main reason is that Jaguar USA felt they would have trouble selling the various supercharged 5 liter models if the lower priced versions (5.0 liter natural V-8 followed by 3.0 liter supercharged V-6) went very nearly as fast. Unlimited, they in fact do exceed the 155mph limit put on the next models up, which without limiter will only barely outrun them. For the same reason variable suspension is not even available as an option on these models in North America. I for one find it offensive that the top quarter of my car's speed performance, for which it was designed from the beginning, has been denied to me for marketing reasons. Jaguar will not let a dealer touch this, but an aftermarket tune can raise or remove the limiter.

Lots and lots of threads on this forum about the speed limiter and how you can bypass it, there is no need for another thread.
