Default Stuttering XF

Hi guys,
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
My 2011 3l V6 (petrol) XF has developed a stutter. Most noticeable when using cruise control on the highway at 120Km/h and going uphill.
The car feels like it is changing down and then straight back up again.
The gearbox has just been completely rebuilt by ZF so that should discount that.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Could easily be a failing coil or an air leak.

Thanks, any quick way to test which coil it may be or how to see if there is an air leak?

Have you checked for codes?
That will usually get you started in the right direction.

But as old as your car is have the plugs and coils ever been changed? It might just need some basic maintenance.

If the gearbox has just been rebuilt and now you have a gearbox stutter .... I'd start there
Have ZF check it out as it sounds like it's not working how it should

But as above start with pulling codes to rule out anything obvious.

Thread is titled as if having to do with engine behavior, all the symptoms described have to do with the transmission. That was just replaced. Recent changes are the most likely culprit, in case that is news. Take it back to the shop that did the work and tell them to make it right.

I get a list of 107 codes, when ZF put their computer on they only got about 3 or 4 and they were not related to the gearbox.
I do not think the stutter is from the gearbox tho, it was doing the exact same thing before the rebuild.
Luckily the box has a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty so after putting new pencil coils and plugs in I can still take it back to them if there is still a problem.

Right so an update.
Replaced the battery as the one that was in finally bit the dust. Didn't fix the stutter but did improve fuel economy slightly.
Put in new plugs and coils as it is a mission getting the inlet manifold out so thought it best to do both and be done.
Problem sorted.
As an aside the plugs were so bad I would be willing to bet that they were not changed at the 100K service...
