Default Tow bar question

I'm looking into fitting a (detachable) tow bar to my XF and wondered what is so special or particular about the wiring kit that's recommended. On my old '96 X300 I fitted a tow bar that came with a bog standard wiring kit, which consisted of a wiring loom with a plug connected and a socket and relay.

The set up for the XF seems to be a much more "dedicated" item. If so, why so? Thoughts appreciated.

It could be something to do with the rear parking sensors when reversing.

I've fitted a towbar and at the moment I've got the relay box kit which works ok but does not turn off the rear sensors, I have a dedicated kit but haven't got around to fitting it..
