Default Trunk not opening

Tried to open the trunk on my 2010 XF/SC this morning by pressing the button on the trunk lid (like I always do) with smartkey in pocket - but nothing happened. I tried lots of times, also took out the smart key and held it right by the trunk - but still no luck.

Smart key seems to be working fine as I can unlock and lock the doors automatically. And if I press the 'trunk open' button on the smartkey itself the trunk pops open fine - so doesn't seem like an issue with the lock.

Any suggestions? Is there some way to accidently turn off the button on the trunk lid - or some other reason why it might not be opening? Or is this a fault?

Thanks!

Default Check Valet Mode

Check Valet Mode. It could be activated.

Sometimes I accidentally activate the Valet Mode, then the trunk and the glove box doesn't open. Try turning off Valet Mode and see if that solves it. I usually have to look it up in the manual, but if your glove box won't open that could be a problem. Let us know if you cant find the procedure to deactivate it.

Thanks - a good thought re valet mode. But valet mode is off (and I assume wouldn't have let me open the trunk with the smartkey either).
Any other thoughts? I'll test again this evening and see if it's still stuck...

It has been a known issue, according to my dealer. My trunk button has been replaced for the same reason. Still, at times it takes just the special touch of the button to open the lid. I also had the wiring harness replaced when the trunk would not open from any electrical input. Apparently the harness issue is fairly common, as well.

Thanks everyone - further digging around online and sounds like a relatively common issue with a broken wire in the wiring harness as axr6 suggests. Could alternatively be the button itself. Either way will let the dealer work it out (still under warranty). Thanks for the guidance!

Both of these are regular issues on several other Jaguar models.

Repeated flexing of the harness at the luggage compartment lid hinge as it is opened and closed over the years eventually causes a break in the wire inside the sleeving.
