Default USB Nav update

Just received the USB 2017 navigation update. Has anyone done this yet? Simple and easy? Instructions seem straight forward, but does not give a time estimate. Where does it plug in? In the USB port in the console?

well after you are done, can I borrow yours?

I sort of thought the nav was run off of a disc in the trunk?

Yep, on yours it is.
But from 2012 on (the "facelift" model) it runs off a hard drive.

I did the update on my 2012 model. It was 3 years ago so I can't remember the details but if I remember correctly I just followed the instructions that came with the thumb drive. It inserts into the USB slot in the center console and the rest of the instructions came up on the nav screen. Just leave the drive in place and it will upload each time you drive a bit at a time. Mine took about 2 hours total. Nav was disabled during the process but everything else worked fine.

Curious about the cost (if there is one)?

I had a Lexus that also used discs and after 10 years I bought a new set for around $200. These things really don't need to be updated frequently. I have a 2010 so still in the dark ages of technology.

Did it on my 2012 XF today. No issues. Followed instructions and it went well. Took about two hours and change.
