you're giving me more credit than I'm worth. I didnt realize you can check the level haha. i will talk to my mechanic about checking the level. if its lower than normal, hopefully adding more will cure the chattering problem from the back

I would say this....if you're going to the trouble of getting the car up in the air, to pull the "fill plug" and check the oil level, why not invest another half hour, or so, and change the gear lube? The hardest part, at least in my opinion, would be getting the car up in the air. Once you're that far, it's just a matter of removing the drain plug, letting the old lube out, and pumping in some fresh oil.
When I changed out mine, after hearing the scare about contaminated XF differentials, I, too, refilled it with Red Line's synthetic lube.
