Hello,
I just had a repair for the VIM Modulator? And the repair shop said they had to download the code for the key fobs?
Can I get a simple explanation for what the VIM is, and why it fails, and the need to program the key fobs?
Thanks....
Not a KVM by any chance? Keyless vehicle module. It's the module in the car that is paired to the keyless entry keys. It had to be programmed to match the keys
On newer cars for security it can't be reprogrammed and has to be replaced with matching keys I believe

There is only one mention of "VIM" in my copy of the 2010-2011 XFR Workshop Manual, and it's worded:
"General Information - Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index DTC: Steering Column Lock Module (VIM)
Description and Operation
Steering Column Lock Module (VIM)".
Of course absolutely nowhere does it say what VIM stands for or means!
Here are the two pages from the Workshop Manual:
Edit - I suspect it might mean "Vehicle Immobilizer Module" seeing as it relates to the steering column lock.
Good morning! I'm new to the forum! Can I ask you why did you have to replace the VIM? what problems were you having? I also had a problem with an error code on that module ... that is the error B100D-87 and the car did not give authorization to start. I had to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and then it started! thanks in advance for your help! I would like to know if it is my same problem so I change the module too.
