Why are Jag owners so OLD
I'm glad that Jags are predominantly driven by older gentleman. Keeps my insurance rates low. Last thing I want is some boy racers to pick up the brand (they couldn't afford it anyways I guess) and see my rates shoot through the roof.
I bought my F-type V8S as an early 50th birthday present to myself. I had driven the wheels off my prior car and my wife knew this one would be something special.
I looked at a lot of other makes and models and got the Jaguar without even a test drive, just a few days after seeing them on the dealer's lot. Sometimes you just know.

I had my first XJS at 25. I've had three XJS's since then. Bought my 07 XK when I was 42(5 years ago and still have). And purchased a 2014 XF AWD SC last year. My dad has three, 1994 XJS, 2002 XJ8 and a 2000 XJ8. He's just 70.
When you look at all the elements associated with Jaguar ownership, be it age or level of spending power, does it not all boil down to comfort level and "I deserve it."
My ownership was simply a dream from the time I was a passenger in a Bahama Yellow E-Type back in the sixties - "One fine day I aim to own one of these mothers," I exclaimed.
Granted, and in retrospect I waited until I retired to buy the dream of my youth, but then I have been the quintessential cheap fart most of my career. Now, it just feels right to see the guy behind me shaking his head and wondering how the heck a chef owns a Jag (license plates tells the story). Love to get out and ask if he wants to drive my F-Type? :-)
As for us old farts being slow - try catching up to me - just love that little checkered flag thingamajig on the console.

I bought my XFR 2 months after my 29th birthday. I wanted a fast mid sized sedan and having a bad experience with a V10 audi s6 the XFR was the best looking, most comfortable, lowest cost and fast enough car for someone who would not take it on a track
As Jaguar is stepping up marketing efforts, increasing reputation for reliability, pricing performance models below their German counterparts and continue to enhance styling more young buyers will be looking to the brand as an option for their first luxury car. They face a lot of the same problems Cadillac had coming out of the 90s and you see a lot of 30 somethings driving ats / cts's now. It takes about 10 years to turn around market perception and with Jag just starting to make cars younger people will want in 2009 i imagine this discussion will look a lot different given a few more years.

Interesting thread! Well, I'm 17 and I own a Jag! Crazy, I know; not sure if I'm the youngest to date on the forums, but oh well!
I'm very grateful to be driving a Jag as my first car; especially at such a young age!

Well it seems like the average age is dropping in the later pages of the thread, I am 24 years old and just picked up my XF supercharged a couple of weeks back. I've wanted one for years but when I bought my last car (Hyundai Genesis) it just didn't seem feasible, once I realized it was I went straight to that dealer to grab my car. So Glad I Did
What bad experiences did you have with your S6? Before buying the Jag, I had come across a few V10 S6s on craigslist and couldn't believe they were in the low $20k range. Seemed too good to be true.
So true... It's cheaper to insure my 2016 F-Type R than it is my 2015 Subaru WRX (with identical coverages)
