Why are Jag owners so OLD
So why are Jag owners, in general, so old. Why do they drive like old ladies ? These are the questions i need answered Seriously I see a lot of folks in luxury sports sedans (bmw, mercedes) that really drive the car, like really old people.

Odd question for me.
Answer would depend on your age and what you perceive to be old.
The answer could lay in the fact that maybe they can afford these cars and like to drive within their limitations. Either way live and let live. I don't see many Prius newage drivers doing burnouts either.

I owned my 98 xkr when i was just 29 and now I have the xfr which i picked up on my 34th birthday.
The car is perceived to be for the 'older' generation but most who think this have never driven the car
I drive with courtesy but when the time arises that someone needs put back in there place I have all the power I need with a swift punch of the loud pedal

You got it !! "My real point is Jags are perceived as for older wealthy folks." However, with depreciation and more availability, they are being driven by younger and younger kids every day. I passed a very young girl driving a car like mine and she was babying it….I drive the hell out of mine and I am 82 ! BTW…mine is supercharged.

Personally I think they have just reached an age where they know difference between **** and clay, and know what they want. Driving style is a generalisation not verified by the demerit points old my old guys driving licence.

Driving fast in cars scares me. I would rather do about 165 on the racetrack with my Suzuki GSXR750. Bring it on whippersnapper. Will be 60 in June.

Exactly, Besides I like to drive slow enough to see the reaction to the car. I've never had so many females look over and smile at me. Slow down and enjoy young man!..lol As the old bull told the young bull "Let's walk down there and F**k them ALL"...

I am "old" now at 64 and I worry more than I used to about tickets etc. I also know that my reaction time is slower than it used to be.
Way back in the 70s my father and I took turns to see who could drive from Tonbridge to Dungeness, in the early morning hours, the fastest.
I managed to get a 3 month driving ban because I was clocked at 120mph on a new motorway in Sussex in the late 70s. My mother had to drive me around for 3 months as I was a salesman at the time. I was the only car on that motorway at the time.
There are so many more ways to get "clocked" speeding today and the penalties seem to be way higher. Never the less I do "punch" it in my 2005 XJR once in a while and get over 3 digits before I know it. I also love powering around a corner, where I can see ahead, on country lanes.

Shrug I'm in my early 30s and own my XFR. If there is an average age on the higher end of the spectrum for jaguar owners it's probably due to the fact that the cars are expensive to own, repair and maintain. Also jaguar I still don't think is seen as a status badge or "mid level manager's dream" like BMWs or Mercs. Which is fine by me because I see less of them on the road

If you've ever discovered motorcycles (real motorcycles, not sit-up-and-beg pooch position cruisers), well, after that cars just become freakin' transportation.
If you think drifting a four wheeler takes some skill, you oughta try it on two!

Selling the 1300 and buying a Jag was supposed to slow me down.

In my teens I had a nasty accident on a motorbike. I could not afford to repair it. Now my eldest daughter has a Ninja something or other motorbike and worries the heck out of me as she loves speed.

I bought my Jag at 32, but for a real age shock i bought my first Lincoln at 19 (Mark 8), i must have been 40 years younger than 90% of the people i saw driving Lincolns back then! Seems like luxury cars are more appreciated by those who have been around the block a few times, while the guys in their 20's want little ricer cars they can "tune" and pretend to be Vin Diesel

All valid - but as a throwback I think Jaguar is failing on its market appeal. If you get so many looks and glances, which we do.... people are confused about the Jaguar brand what does it really standard for, what does it excel at. Are we a "Gorgeous Performance" Brand or are we only for the "elite" folks. As an example I read many posts on here complaining about the dealer fees, to do simple things like a check - I recently got a quote for 60K miles servicing of $800 - I can afford, but I do not like paying that much nor do I want to do it myself. Part of the problem is Jaguar does not sell enough vehicles to lower the servicing fees, it does not have the volume. Its all about supply and demand economics. Jaguar has to work on correcting this equation.
So back to my original topic of the discussion. The more that Jag is viewed as an "Old Man" car the less demand - that is why I do not drive like an OLD man . So are we the "Wrinkly blue Viagra car brand" or are we the "Gorgeous Performance Testosterone car brand". I prefer the latter and I think many of you deep down, would also prefer that brand tag !
I would like to see more adverts like this: Your desire it.... buy a Jag!, You deserve it.... buy a Jag! , You earned it.... buy a Jag! , You know you want it... Buy a Jag ! (Hot chick getting into a Jag with a young man). Enjoy Life - Buy a Jag ! The car that makes it all worth while - Buy a Jag ! (hot chick getting into the Jag with an old man), Championship game won - buy a Jag ! , You closed the Business Deal - Buy a Jag ! Instead of the negative subliminal advert "This car is too good for you unless you have a lot of money or are old". Hopefully the XE type campaign can build on the success of the XF and F-Type campaigns and slowly change the market perception of Jag Brand.
Luv my Jag !

Can't tell you how many times I've seen AMG S class or CL or CLS or 7 series BMW'S with a 55-60 year old woman driving 60 in a 65 zone. I attribute it to the husband buying the "family" car he wants to drive when he's not driving his sports car.
Point is, all makes are driven slowly by a majority of drivers.
