Default Xenon bulb replacement

Hi all, one of the D1S Xenon HID globes on my 08 XF SV8 has died so I was on planning on replacing both globes.
I removed the headlight assembly from the car which is the easy part, I went to replace the globe and for the life of me cannot figure out how to remove the black circular clip that holds the Xenon HID globe in place

If anyone has Xenon HID globes in their pre-facelift XF and has advice on changing these globes I would appreciate it so much!
I'm replacing the current globes with Osram Night Breaker Laser Xenarc D1S globes.

Going by dodgy memory here but IIRC you need to twist the clip a quarter turn to release it, which way I completely forget but I suspect it will turn only one way.

I tried twisting lightly but to no avail, and didn't want to break anything.

This is what the clip looks like

Again going by dodgy memory but it is quite stiff and you need to twist harder than you would think.
But in case I am wrong probably best to wait for others to chime in!
And maybe it is "press and twist" or "squeeze and twist".
Aha moment, looking at the pic of the clip I now remember!
You need to press in the little tang on the RHS of the pic and at the same time twist the clip anti-clockwise to release that tang.
Notice the hinge on the other side of the clip, once you release that tang and twist a little the clip hinges open and releases the globe.

this look like a pain in the butt LOL I'm grateful right now I don't have that issue but I'm pretty sure that's going to happen to me eventually

what I would do is purchase a new clip so you could kind of see where the access release points are located and if you do break it you have one ready

You're a genius Oz! Your idea worked
Pushing the little tab and then twisting counter clockwise is the way to remove the globe

Spot on. I had the same trouble when I did mine a couple of years ago. Once you work it out it's easy

I find the headlight unit a pita to get in and out as the washer spray nozzle leaves little space to maneuver it in. So I'd suggest replacing the high beam halogen and that little sidelight while you have it out. Both are low cost

Don't forget the third screw in the wheel arch to securely hold the headlight unit in place
