Default XF Air Vent Squeak Noise

My XF far passenger side air vent squeaks once the vents hit the full close/full open position. Has this happened to you? It is kind of annoying me. When I tried to observe it further, it looked like the aluminum trim on the vent is maybe rubbing on something on the inside or the edge of the dash.

Is there a way to fix this? I only started hearing it recently and its only 1 vent so far.

Here is a video I recorded today:

I am going to see if the dealership will do anything about it although it does function fine ...I hope they can do something.

Have you tried to spray a little silicone lube in it?

I haven't , could be something to try. I went to the dealership the service guy told me he will order and replace it under my warranty.

Silicone lub spray with the extension tube. I would first try each side. Spray a small amount and try opening and closing it a few times. Spray a little at a time and try opening and closing it each time. The spray will not damage anything, but trial and error is the way to go. Just don't saturate anything at first if not necessary.

To follow up, I took it to the dealership. It was covered under my platinum warranty as an interior dash wear item. They didn't replaced but just "lubricated the hing". Not sure what hing or what else but I guess lubrication is the fix.

Yes hinge*, not sure what they were talking about but I believe they may have open the dash / taken out the vent ...that's what the service desk guy told me but who knows.

I asked this question because one of my vents started to close not smoothly.
So, will this spray operation help?

Possibly. Won't hurt to give it a try.
