Default XF Idle issues and loss of power

Hi,
I own a late 2011 Jaguar XFS 3l diesel. Today I noticed when starting up the car it was idling okay but was occasionally flickering below the normal idle. The car drove okay for a few miles then started cutting out with no power. I pulled over and restarted the car, drove for a few hundred metres then the same thing happened again. This repeated until I was able to get home.

About a month ago, I started seeing a warning light on the dash as no fuel. But put this down to be an faulty sensor as it was intermittent. The car is 3/4 full of diesel. I presume this is unrelated.

Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Rob
