XF Reliability opinions
I work on all my cars, (Thats the deal I have with my wife for my obsession with jaguars) the only time I have ever gone to a dealership is when I had my xk8 get a front end alignment , I am thinking about getting a XF, I have been looking at 2010 thru 2012, does anybody on the forum have any opinion on if any year is more reliable than the other, I was originally thinking about getting a 2009 because I am very familiar with the 4.2 motors But I think I want to try out a 5.0

Anecdotally, a lot of the issues people have with xfs on this forum are pre-2010. Believe it or not, my '10 XFR has been one of the most reliable luxury cars I have ever owned. For a lot of reasons, if you can afford it go 2010+ (mine is still for sale

I would agree. My 2010 SC has been terrific for reliability
Go 2012 onwards if you like the new front end facelift or the Nav/sound system (although I don't think it's much better). Else the 2010 and 2011 are a great deal right now

We recently purchased our first Jag, a 2009 XF with 41K miles which my wife now refers to as "the money pit." There is evidence that one lower control arm was replaced. So far, we have had the alternator, one rear axle seal, and one electronic rear door lock replaced at around $1,400. It still needs the tire pressure warning system software to be upgraded (getting constant tire pressure warnings). Cosmetic problems that we're going to have to live with are the shrunken and ridged dashboard cover, and the bubbling chrome on some exterior parts. The real kicker: the cost to get a second key is $740.00 (unbelievable)! I love the car, but not having to tell the wife every time it needs more expensive repairs.
Could be that your Tire Pressure transmitters needs replacement in each tire, the batteries in them are only good for on average 6 to 7 years.
