Default XF transmission problems

2010 XF with 113,000 miles. During a trip, transmission started slipping, then got stuck in a high gear. Towed home. Was told that the computer control module wasn't communicating with transmission and needed to be replaced. $4,000 later, I drove away. Within 48 hours, the exact same problem occurred again. Was told this time that the transmission itself needed replacement for over $2,000. Was told that two separate things COULD occur at the same time and that if the transmission needed replacement, then the control module had to be replaced also. Doesn't sound right to me. Advice? Thanks - Mike

Wrong forum, you want X250. Isn't your transmission a 6 speed? Advice? Take it to someone else for diagnosis and if it comes back with same diagnosis you're screwed. $4k for a control module and $2K for whole transmission sounds wonky. Fluid/filter change often works but who's to say with yours?

Hi Pat..
You posted this almost 12 hours ago in the x260 forum here which is for 2016+ XF's; but I don't see that you posted in the other/correct x250 forum as asked..?

Be sure to post your issue in the x250 forum as those chaps have more experience with ZF's 6HP26 6-speed tranny.
(Our newer XF's use ZF 8HP 8-speed)

Anyway, if history holds with this being your first ever & only post on JaguarForms, we'll never hear from you again and our efforts to help you will be in vain. 😇

In the hopes that's not the case:

When was the last time in years & miles that this was done to your ZF?

PS: How far is Laguna from Huntington?

Default Thanks

I'll look for the x250 forum. I've never had problems with my XF transmission before. The car is still in the shop awaiting arrival of a rebuilt transmission. Huntington Beach is 32 miles from Laguna Woods. Mike

Say what? Huntington Park maybe but HB is half that distance as the crow flies.

Welcome to the forums Mike,

I've moved your post to X250 forum.
