Default XFR 100 Edition - Reg SD11CWN

Hi,

I used to own a XF 3.0D (2009 model) some years ago and registered then. So many moons later an I am considering a XFR 100 edition with the reg of SD11CWN (UK). It's a high miles car but has FSH and immaculate condition. It also has some upgrades such as Spires pipe, Pulley and ECU flash.

Is this car known to anyone here? Anything to consider with these? The price is good (I think) for what it is, loved the short test drive earlier today. Just need to pull the trigger (or not).

Thanks

That's a UK reg & you've posted on a mainly US based site. For info from the previous owner of that specific car try posting it on the mainly UK based site.

Thanks, noted after and have posted elsewhere too. Suppose the question about the model of car remains of interest if there is any experience.

To translate to US spec that's a 2011 XFR model? Lots of owners on here. Mine is the 2010 XF SC which is basically the same 5.0 V8 SC
Had it 8 yes now. Been terrific

Would have a very thorough independent inspection done.
Check all cooling system to ensure no leaks - quite a lot of plastic (as with many cars). Timing chain guides can get worn at high mileage on these earlier ones and a pretty expensive repair (and would do lots of damage if left alone). Any ratting sounds?
SC snout can also get worn - listen for clunk on shutdown

How high are miles? I would be ok with decent miles but if v high I would be cautious. Eg my 2010 is 64k miles and you can find plenty of modest mileage ones

Also check all wheels are true - the 20inch allows bend v easily

This one has 146K, so ye, mostly motorway one would assume (100K in the first 4 years of its life). So ye, risky. That said, you would think that a lot of stuff would have failed and have been replaced at this stage?

I wouldn't bank on stuff having failed and been replaced. If it's 150k miles mostly highway then I doubt timing chain or SC is done yet. You can perhaps pull service records. Cooling system is more about heat cycles than miles

So it could be fine. But if it were me I'd look for a much lower mileage one or a few yrs newer if I could find it. But stick with the V8 SC engine!!

Thanks, appreciated.

I have looked through all the invoices and receipts, there's the usual stuff, waterpump / condenser failure but nothing regarding the timing chain / tensioners. They are asking the previous owner but it looks like it may not have been done as yet. I do need a car soon but not in a position till early next year to look at something more expensive. Ill keep a watching brief on ebay and other sites for new cars - I agree, I do like what I drove and certainly something I'd like to get in future.
