Default Jag noob needs some help!

Hi all,

I am Jag noob and have an opportunity for what seems a great deal on a 2010 XFR.

Opportunity: 2010 XFR, Ultimate Black, 21K miles, immaculate condition, CPO car, $56K

What do you guys think? Sound good as is? I will haggle but should I expect anything more?

What about the XFR itself in this year? Reliable? Any known issues with that model year?

Like I said. I am a Jag noob. This would be my first one. I currently drive an 08 Vette Coupe but Im ready for a Perfomance Lux Sedan at this point in my life. My original intent was to go 2012 XF Portfolio or Supercharged since the new XFR is just more than I want to pay for a car.

Thanks in advance and all feedback is welcome.

Very overpriced, especially with all the miles on it. Should be under $50.

I would go for this car for that amount.

2012 Jaguar XF Base, $55,890 - Cars.com

R for $44.000
2010 Jaguar XF XFR, $43,688 - Cars.com

Really? I thought it was not bad at 21k miles and given its a fully warranted Certified Pre Owned XFR?

There is one listed at the dealer where I bought my car with plus 26k for just under $50k. A second one with 4800 miles for plus $55k. I think there is a lot of room to deal with these cars. The certification is worth something- car is three years old, should be approaching about half its MSRP value. mileage is about 10k less than average which adds back some money plus certification. Should be in the mid-to upper $40k I would guess.

Err...if someone is wanting an XFR, a base 2012 is a bit far removed, as good a car as it may be! And that $44k XFR has had accident damage. Look at the Carfax.

To the OP: Your opportunity is a little overpriced, but you should be able to get that down to around $52k and then it is a reasonable deal. The asking price is quite typical for a CPO, but there is definitely room for negotiation there. A lot of folk on this board will say that the XFR isn't worth the extra money and they try and talk values down, but the fact of the matter is that it is rare, special and different enough from an SC to warrant the outlay, to those who admire them.

21k miles for a 2010 is comfortable mileage. I would be wary of very low mileage ones - could imply it is a bit of a lemon. For example, I have had virtually no problems with mine, but a colleage with a base 2011 has had his at the dealer for about 20% of the time he has owned it... Quality varies, so check the car and its history carefully! Good luck!

I would shoot for the 2012 XF without a doubt! Just the small updates are worth having over an older car.

I just had the '12 XF out as a loaner a little while ago. Beautiful car. If performance is not a must for you, this will definitely "do it". Seats are far more comfortable than the XFR and the A/V interface is much faster and cleaner. The rest is mostly cosmetic...

I'd go for the '12 XF in your shoes.

Thanks all for the input so far. Keep it coing as I am still grapling with my options. I am a performance guy so the XFR is definitely a lure for me over a 2012 XF base or Portfolio. The one inquestion needs to be seen to appreciate. I am usually not a "used" buyer, never had been, but this car is 98% showroom new.

Go for the XFR - you will never regret it. Get a more common one and you will still want an XFR. I don't lust after an SC, even though it is what I originally intended to buy. In general, they are all great cars, whatever spec, pre or post 2012. Most of the likes and dislikes are subjective, so only you can decide. Haggle hard, stick to a price you are prepared to pay, and be ready to walk away. Ultimately you will be happy with your deal. Someone, somewhere always gets a better deal, but in reality, any given deal is unique and cannot be compared 100% with another. It sounds like a good car. If I was in the market, I would be prepared to move at $52k. I think that target is realistic. Plenty of folk wait a lifetime for the right deal. If this car is for you, set your limits realistically and make it happen. The dealer has a bottom line. If it is lower than your top line, you can do a deal. If not, move on.

It's definitely not a screaming deal based on what I'm seeing in the southeast.

Right about $50K on the money would be a good deal.

Here's one asking $51K at the dealer, although it doesn't appear to be a CPO:

Used 2010 Jaguar XF XFR For Sale | Fort Myers FL .

Try cargurus.com

Cheers,

CPO is 6yr/100k, you will not likely have it for the full 100k before the 6 years are up. But here is the kicker.

The 6 years starts at the original sales date, so if it sold in Sept of 09, then the end date is Sept 15, only 3 years from now.

My car is a 10 CPO and the sales date is May 10 so I have until May 16.

That extra 9 months is worth something.

What I am trying to say is make sure you know the the dates of the warranty and you may be able to haggle on that.

Offer them 50K and be ready to walk away, they want to sell that car, now that the AWD models are coming out.

A little update. In speaking with the dealer the salesperson claims to have $54k in the car due to it being CPO eligible. This was a brief phone chat so I haven't seen paper on the car yet.

He indicated $55k would be the likely number they can work with. I guess if I remain interested I can press to make it up by giving me top dollar on my trade which is a low mileage 2008 Corvette.

We will see where this goes.

Not sure where you are with your purchase, but this could be a good bargaining chip for you:

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...25102149&Log=0

This one seems like a great deal to me and is CPO so comparable to the one your are bargaining for... unfortunately about $10K above the price range I agreed to with the wife...

Cheers,

No problem... Also noted on Cargurus that car I posted has gone through a $5k price drop recently... Wish I could swing it, will just have to keep looking for a '10 SC closer to Florida. Someone's going to get a good deal though!

Cheers,

- Will
