XFR Test Drive

XFR Test Drive
I had the opportunity to roll off the dealers lot today with an Ultimate Black, 2010 XFR for an extended test drive. After making the seat and steering wheel adjustments for proper motoring and setting the climate control to an enjoyable 69 degrees, I then made a quick connect of the i-pod. "Jammin" to some "Bootleg" Bob Dylan, I quickly pulled away from the dealership. The "Leaper" makes it's way toward the highway, and with a slight push of the accelerator the car effortlessly marks 112 KPH. This car exudes an intoxicating sense of freedom and enrapture to which one becomes addicted to instantly. The steering and suspension are tight. Small adjustments of the steering wheel instantly produce a subtle lane change. The ride is firm without being harsh. The bumps in the roadway are perceptible but not obtrusive. As the Adaptive Dynamics emanates complete driver control, one feels so connected to the tarmac it's easy to over-run the legal speed limit. You just don't get the feel for how very fast your actually traveling. This cat has a yearning to "Go Fast" with out regards to the socially accepted road regulations. As I pulled behind other motorist cruising along in the fast lane, I was tempted to trigger the Hi-Beams, as to say "Excuse me" I'd like to pass now, could you kindly move to the right. (But I didn't, as I did not want others to think I was some rich jerk with a fast car)
I was "Blown Away" by the XF SC. Well the R has trumped the supercharged. Not that it's noticeably faster, It's just an exotic "Hy-Bred" version. I completely enjoyed the afternoon. It really is a "Super Jag"

In deed, it was very fun. Unfortunately I won't be purchasing one of these fine motorcars as I don't want to forfeit my off-road Land Rover which I enjoy immensely. Living in the SW part of the US and not having a off road truck just wouldn't be right. And I am very fond of my 08 XJ8L (that gets a very respectable 24 MPG@80/90mph). So, I will dream for the time being, of the day I find a used "Super Jag" at a more cost efficient price. We as Jag owners must admit to ourselves, owning a Jag is not, nor will it ever be about "Smart Investing" but more about owning an automobile with a soul and type of charisma that most other cars simply do not possess.
