Default XJL Owner Looking To Learn From The XFR Crowd

As many of you know,

The X351 section of this forum is dead. I thought I'd post this here hoping to see if anyone wants to chat.

My name is Johncy and I own a 2012 XJL SC with full bolt-ons.

Here are some pics.

Car on the DynoJet made 500+Whp.

Thanks DPK.

This car is the fastest car I have ever owned. It is just crazy to have a car as big as the XJL accelerate so quick. I believe it weighs about 4300lbs if I'm not mistaken.

You XFRs out there are quick though! I ran at Somona Weds Night Drags a few months ago with an XF SC with muffler delete only and it pulled by .3 in the quarter.

I am currently looking to upgrade my tires on the 20" Kasugas to Michelins. I was thinking of doing 255/40/20 in the front on a 9" rim and 295/35/20 in the rear on a 10" rim. I've seen people going down on profile (ex. 255/35/20 295/30/20). What are your thoughts?

I would also like to lower the Jag if possible. Do they make springs for the XF that could possibly fit the XJ?

My car is currently at the dealer getting some warranty work done. The Supercharger Torsion Isolator is being replaced because there was a "marble noise" coming from the Supercharger. The internal spring will be replaced and the front snout will be retained along with my SC Pulley. I also had the coolant system checked and everything was fine, no leaks. The water pumps on the AJ motors have been known to fail prematurely so I am taking every precaution necessary. An oil change was also performed after 8k miles or so.

Such a great experience working with Jaguar Dealers also. They have quality Dealer Services as well as great warranties on Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles.

Glad to be here

Johncy

Glad you're with us..You'll have a lot to talk about with the XFR and SC'd crowd here..I have the grandpa's XF NA 5.0..So I'm out of my league with you guys.

A good dealer can make all the difference with enjoying your JAG ownership or dreading it.

Nice ride and good to hear the dealership didn't give you any warranty issues with your modifications, especially with the work occurring at the supercharger

Wow... great car...

If you have extra 20" rims you want to offload let me know... mine are in need of replacement after living in Boston for a year.

In a strange way...welcome! To me all the forums are equal but I noticed that it tends to be a model-based group. If you don't have my model I'm not interested....sigh...

Glad to see you're running your Jag at the track. I like it. Did you post your times over in the quarter mile section? You should. See my times in my sig.

Have you ever driven the XJR? The latest ones are all aluminum and weigh a bit less than the XF. My XF-RS weighed 4355 officially w/o driver. I read that the XFRs weighed only 41xx lbs. At the Jag academy they definitely felt lighter and faster than the XFs.

Thanks Allenman85. I ran a 12.7 at Sonoma Raceway on All Season Tires. That's why I'm looking to get Michelin PSS but don't know weather to go 255/40 and 295/35 or 255/35 and 295/30... My XJL is indeed all aluminum and weighs about 4300lbs. I have never got a chance to drive an XFR and I was looking for one too before ingot my XJL.

Hey, Welcome to the forums Johncy!

The car looks fresh, elegant, and mean all at the same time.

I like the de-badging of the rear, along what looks like a light tint on the rear lights - Nice and clean!

Honest questions, Do ya drive for uber still?(saw the sticker) Does it make sense profit wise for you with the vehicle? I know its a higher level of pay with a luxury car but never asked anyone who actually drove in that tier for uber.

Nice to see some new members in this New Year.

Thanks for the warm welcome Fabfive! I do not drive for Uber anymore. It just was not worth it driving so many people in my Jag, getting the seats wrinkly and adding more to my daily mileage. The wait time for a request to reach you was longer than I expected. I would be waiting at the Cell Phone Lot at the Airport for an hour or so before getting a hit.
