Default Zip tie method

Is there a zip tie method on changing the timing components? I have a little chain rattle that goes away when it's warm and heard there is an easy way to change the guides and tensioners? 2010 XF 5.0

Well... not sure how to put this without being shut down...
There are ways to lock your cams in place without a timing kit... and some do use zip ties... but I would strongly recommend against it. Is very easy to screw things if you don't use proper tools.

I would strongly recommend you to buy the timing tools... there are very cheap and easy to be found on eBay. Investing $100 - $200 on tools is cheaper than rebuilding/replacing an engine.

My independent may have the tools. How hard is it to change the guides and tensioners? How long does it normally take?

Have you ever done anything similar?
I'm am actually in plan to start doing mines at the end of this month.

I've done timing chains before on Honda cars, 4 cylinder cars. Fairly easy and is about half a day to a full day of work.

From my readings, for the V8 on this car will be slightly more complicated. I will be giving myself some time on it and do things slowly and properly (I have a few other things lined up). Probably it will take me around 2 weeks to finish everything I have planned.
A competent mechanic should be able to do the swap in maximum 2 days.

if I could find a write up in detail on what needs to be done it's possible. I do basic stuff on vehicles and this may be over my expertise. But I do know some people that could.

Yes, there is, and looks like it is an official method. Davetibbs posted it in this thread : timing chain tensioner engine set (.pdf file).
