Microswitch replacement for trunk release
Trunk release does not work. Key does. No lights in trunk as well. Fuses good. No noise when pressing release button. I heard there is a micro switch that goes bad that would solve this issue? Anyone privy to what part number this is and where I might get it? Doesn't have to be OEM...I'm not THAT picky!
That's indeed what it is!!!! Thanks. Looks like 4 are broke and the rest are trying their best. Recommend any certain materials for such a fix? I'm learning to ask more questions instead of figuring it out myself. Thanks again!!!!!

Just completed the wires/switch job on my newest addition VDP:
There is also a microswitch that controls the boot lights and release as well as the alarm system. It is attached to the latch. But my car had nothing there but a couple of wires hanging out! I bought a used latch that included the switch. With the new switch and a repair to a few of the wires by the right hinge, all was well with lock/unlock, light function, and remote fob operation!
The switch is quite specific to the latch mechanism, and has a lead and plug attached. A very important piece. Don't know if it is available separately. Seems like it would be hard to custom fit a non-OEM. Glad yours is still working......

I know this is little bit of an old thread - but the broken wires are they on the left or right side of the trunk ( looks like I have both ) wanted to find out which side most commonly breaks - passenger or drivers side wires...
My issue is no lights in trunk and no power to the light socket when trunk lifted assuming it's a broken wire as all fuses are good etc..

Heh, heh...I did that because you threw a curve in at the end after talking "right" and "left" by transitioning to "Driver's" and "Passenger's" - this can be quite ambiguous because the "real driver's side" according to the people that designed and built these cars is on the right, yet my driving controls, and I suspect yours as well, are situated on the left!
Here's a sage tip for you flatlanders: When you sing the alphabet like when you were a toddler, it is R_S_T_U_V...and so on. RS, as in Right Side--Starboard....Right Starboard...Port starts with "P" which is not next to either R or L, so Right/Starboard and you can figure out "port" by the process of elimination.
One last bit....that is right/starboard and left/port recognizing the "bow" is at the front and "stern" at the rear....
