Default Engine Mount is filled with oil/grease?

got under the car today to figure out what I thought was an oil or trans fluid leak, it turns out the engine mount bushings are filled with some type of oil or grease, and my passenger side one has given up.

I searched and saw lots of threads about replacing it, doesn't look like too bad of a job

I have not had to replace mine -- So I don't have any direct knowledge of this particular mount --but it is not uncommon to have fluid filled motors mounts.

This come up quite often on the MB forums -- Mercedes has used these for years and often the aftermarket mounts are not fluid filled and do not perform as well.

So know what you are getting

I just replaced my passenger side mount. When putting in a replacement transmission, the purple die Brutal referred to was oozing out of the mount. I suppose when I was tilting the motor and transmission, it started pushing out the fluid. There appeared to be some signs of previous leakage, but I may have aggravated it in my removal and installation efforts.

It sounds like I was pretty fortunate that it was the passenger side, based on his comments about the left side. I am curious about what it takes to replace the left side ( but not that curious!)

The right side was easy, except for getting the nut off the top...that was one very tight nut. I guess it was frozen on despite looking clean and not corroded.

Hope yours is the right side! ( and that my left one does not fail)
