Default Supercharger Removal & Install PDF files

Hi
Here is a bunch of JTIS21 extracts that make up the 9 PDF files I created that give instructions & illustrations on the Supercharger Removal & Installation.

The Supercharger R&I PDF calls out 8 other procedures that I also extracted into PDF files. I am not sure that all these procedures are needed (maybe other members have actually removed the supercharger) and there maybe some shortcut methods that have been used.

off and on is a full day for me, I'd love to see a faster method, or a tool that gets the back bolt out on the S/C. Good post!

thank you for making these into PDF. I am about to remove my supercharger due to a bad noise and send it off for rebuild.

That back bolt SUCKS!!! Whole day for me too.

Default Replaced Coolant Outlet Pipe PDF with corrected PDF for SC

Hi
I found an error in the 1998 XJ models - Coolant Outlet Pipe link within 2 of the Data (Title Section txt file and the 303-3A sgm file).

The Coolant Outlet Pipe for SC title was linked to the "Normal Aspirated - Without Supercharger" section instead of the "With Supercharger" section.

I fixed it by making changes to the 2 files above.

I replaced the SC Coolant Outlet Pipe PDF file in post# 1.

Default Supercharger removal pics

First, thanks for everyone involved for keeping this great community going. I don't post often, but I use the site and advice often, and greatly appreciate the contributions a few make for the lurkers like me. I don't know how much time and money I have saved, but it is substantial.

I had a coolant leak from under my supercharger like others here, and removed the supercharger "by the book" to get a good look at the hoses under there. I found the culprit, and am getting set to order parts.

Based on the procedures, as I read them, I need the following parts to replace all the gaskets:

Throttle body gasket
EGR gasket
Throttle body elbow gasket
Supercharger outlet duct gasket
Two heater hoses that run under the SC (NCA3945CD and NNE3946CA)

Optional
SC drive belt

Based on my experience, the tear down was not as tough as expected, somewhere around a 3 hour job to get to the hoses.

There were some bolt seals called out, but I did not see them.

EDIT: The NCA6945CD heater feed hose does not appear to be correct for the XJR. I spoke with Mark at Gaudin Jaguar in Las Vegas, NV and he gave me the correct hose part number as AJ87634.

I can't thank all the hands that went into putting this thread together enough. It has been extremely helpful and got me into really putting the time and care into my 02 XJR. I love working on my own vehicles when I have the right key and this is def it.

Very useful but like most factory procedures there are areas where dismantling is detailed but not necessary, so be sure to use common sense.

Default Jaguar XJR heater hose part numbers

I know this is an old topic but it's one of several I was going through to try and determine which hoses I need for my X308 XJR. To clarify some of the part numbers given (double check part numbers posted here, and Amazon, Rockauto, etc ... I've found more than one conflict):

NCA3945CD is for the normally aspirated model according to Jaguar Heritage Parts picture.

NNE3946CA same part is used in NA or SC versions.

NCA6945CD confused me. Is not a Jaguar part number when I search JH. I wonder if you typed a 6 instead of a 3 there? A Google search of that part number gives just one result - this topic.

AJ87634 - yes, is the SC version of NCA3945CD in the JH picture. A previous SC version was NCC3945AC (changed or superseded by AJ87634 from VIN F07815).

NA = Normally Aspirated.
SC = Supercharged.
JH = Jaguar Heritage Parts or Jaguar Classic Parts - I found it a useful website for checking part numbers and diagrams.

Don't forget Brutal's great suggestion. When you finally get the SC itself off the engine. Grind the back bolt hole to a slot. That way you only use the back bolt as a locating pin and it's never tightened down again.

This will allow you to mount the SC complete with the rear induction elbow to the engine. Then you don't have to fight those 4 bolts holding the elbow to the SC on and off anymore because you can do this part of the repair on the bench where you have enough room to work! Those 4 bolts are very time consuming to do when the SC is on the car.

Not hard at all. No need to pull the EGR or the blow off valve. The back bolt is the biggest pain but once it's off grind a slot in the back hole and put the bolt in place then slide the s/c onto it and tighten it down. Take out the fan pack, pull the belt, take off the coolant cross over, top plate and elbow connectors, take off the air intake and back cover,

take off the throttle body and lay it to the side then the three mount bolts. Back ones a pain but I made a tool out of a cheap 10mm ratchet wrench cut down and a distributor wrench.

I just need to remove the snout, why does the complete SC have to be taken off??

Having done this twice, I can remove the SC in a little less than 2 hours, and even not notching the back I can reinstall in about 2.5 hours (with a second person helping with the alignment of the intake elbow if you don't modify the rear bolt hole of the SC and install with it already connected).

Honestly, this really isn't that bad! Doing anything on my A8 seems much harder, time consuming and frustrating. I also have yet to ever remove the front bumper to work on my Jaguars, that's kind of nice lol. It's not even 10lbs of siht in a 5lb bad, they made 10lbs of it and then shrink wrapped it.
