OK, Iv'e manned up enough meat of my bones to take on the Timing Chain Challenge, the challenge of sweat, grueling agonizing train of thought, and sore fingers. My question now is, what do I need? Here is a list of what I think Ill need.

-cam locking tools
-4 METAL tensioners
-obviosly I have the socket and ratchet asortment
-maybe a new water pump
-deffinetly a new thermostat
-But do I need new chains since I've seen other member only replace the tensioners and guides
-and guides

This list I am aware will be costly, but much less costly than having Sir. Jeremy Sheffield of Manchester to do this for me for 22802587 pounds and 2 shillings. Or in the US (Im American)2582539782537892530789253978 worthless dollars. Little joke to lighten my stress as Im only 17 doing this job on the weekend.

 

hey on the website called jagbits there is a kit i think it was $850 and had everything you need to do the job, minus the guides they were another $30-ish. If you didnt order from there at least you could view the list of parts.

 

The cooling system does not have to be drained to replace the timing chains/tensioners.
The job might be a little easier with the pump out of the way but not necessary.

If you do one side at a time, you do not need 2 cam lock tools.

Well thanks guys, luckily there is a man down the street from me I met just yesterday and he'll let me borrow all of his Jaguar special tools!!!!! He owns 11 Jaguars so he will deffinitly be at the top of my list for maintenance aids.

----and what is the deal by only working on 1 bank at a time and need using cam lockers?
